The tournament was host to about 180+ teams and the girls programs were in full effect. The tournament host behind the scenes and the hardest working man in basketball is Quincy Quintero he has done a great job coming up with some key events. Here are a few girls we were impressed with this weekend, they were the ones that put in the work for our staff to see.
2024, 5’10, F, Mountain Ridge HS (AZ), Gloria Hines – lanky guard who is very athletic getting to the rim, shoots the ball and takes charge of the team on the floor. She was a wonder to watch, she made the team go and we noticed her right from the start of the game. She used her size well and could get up and down the floor with ease, she ran to spots and was able to seal and finish in the paint as well as some transition buckets she got. Impressed by this talent here….
2028, 5’6, CG, PHH Prep (AZ), Destinee Benway – guard type that can shoot the midrange shot and defend very well, made some plays for her team and kept the intensity up during the game. She was able to score in transition and also stop and hit some midrange shots inside the paint area. She could handle the ball pretty good and look to be a good playmaker for the team, with some good solid passing skills.
2025, 5’8, SG, Phoenix Country Day (AZ), Aila Kaibara – forward that is really active on the floor, can rebound and push the rock as well as defend wit the best of them. Threw her body around in the paint and was able to start the break and make the right decision to get scores from herself or her teammates. She pushed girls around in the paint and showed them what a true rebounding guard can do in the game. Again, she was really active on both sides of the ball, we loved watching her play.
2025, 6’1, SF, Seton Catholic (AZ), Raigan Gregston – athletic forward type with a nice frame for the game. Nice post game that allows her to take advantage of smaller defenders. This kid was a bully in our eyes in the paint, she was able to get most of all the rebounds she wanted on the defensive and offensive side of the floor. She ran the floor well and could finish and showed us she is a tough defender for her team.
2025, 6’1, SF, Seton Catholic, (AZ), Mia DiPuccio – tall post player with nice size, she rebounds with the best of then and has a nice stroke from the outside. This girl ran the floor as well, but she could also pull up from the perimeter and make a shot, we love this type of diversity on the floor, cause it makes you really hard to guard as a player. The midrange game was pretty good and she most likely will evolve into a pretty good three point shooter, but the midrange is where the game is headed these days.
