One of the teams that should be on your radar is Richmond Heat’s 2025 squad. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Rob Clark of the Richmond Heat about their program and I’m excited to preview this talented group.
Key Players to Watch
Abigail Popham Abigail Popham 5'7" | SG LaFayette | 2025 State KY | Lafayette
Popham is a versatile scorer that can do a little bit of everything. She makes some excellent drives to the rim and if help defense steps over, she doesn’t hesitate to kick to an open teammate. She can also knock down shots on the outside and she constantly moves to find the gaps on the floor to set herself up for a good shot. Popham has great handles and she utilizes her ball handling moves well in game situations.
Brittany Campbell Brittany Campbell 5'6" | PG Madison Central | 2025 State KY | Madison Central
Campbell is the definition of a floor general. She sees the floor as well as anyone and is a true playmaker. She has great scoring abilities as well, adding to the difficulty that comes along with trying to guard her. Campbell’s ability to get to the rim and to shoot it from anywhere on the court is impressive. She does a really good job changing speeds and it’s impossible to not see the value she adds to any team when she’s on the floor.
Cameryn Ridderikhoff | Franklin County
If you need someone to knock down a 3, Ridderikhoff is a player that you can turn to. The lefty is a great shooter and if she gets hot from deep, the opposing team is in trouble. Franklin County had a really impressive season, going undefeated in district and regional play and making it to the 2nd round of the state tournament. Ridderikhoff was a critical component to their success, knocking down big shots when the Flyers needed them most. If you play her too close, she’s got great driving and passing abilities in her game.
Juliana Frazee Juliana Frazee 6'1" | C Franklin County | 2025 State KY | Franklin County
Frazee is also coming off of an impressive varsity season with Franklin County where she finished with one of the top 15 field goal percentages in the state. She’s got excellent size and she posts up like a veteran. Frazee has phenomenal hands and she moves so well on the defensive end. She works extremely hard and that shines when you watch her play. Coach Clark shared with me that she’s currently working to expand her game to add more outside shooting as well, something that will certainly set her game apart from others.
Brooke Campbell | Madison Central
Campbell is a high IQ player that should turn a lot of heads this summer. She is a really high percentage shooter with excellent range. Because of her quick, high release, she only requires a split second of free space to get her shot off. Campbell is a fantastic passer as well. She sees a play ahead and does a great job of making passes that lead her teammates to the basket. Her rebounding skills are strong and she is a fearless defender who is often tasked with guarding players much bigger than her.
