Again, the level of play was top-notch across the 17U division and the Dynasty Region was a standout amongst all of the other regions. Here are the players who particularly caught my eye on Sunday morning. Stay tuned for the All-Tourney teams from the Dynasty Region, also.
Jacey Crawford Jacey Crawford 6'2" | C Stillwater | 2023 State OK | 6-2 F | Oklahoma Swift / Stillwater | 2023 | @crawford_jacey
Crawford stands out every time you see Oklahoma Swift play for her tremendous height and length. She has always had the ability to stretch the floor by being able to step out and shoot it. Lately, her work under the rim is getting better and better. Her rebounding is getting better as she learns not to rely solely on her height and jumping ability and is beginning to use her size for other things like denying her opponent a shot at the rebound. As her rebounding improves, so does her ability to get points in the paint, often through putbacks. Still learning, Jacey is definitely a diamond in the rough. She has all of the size and athleticism that high-level college coaches are looking for. A big jump this grassroots season could lead to an enormous senior season for this Stillwater star!
Josalyn Byrom Josalyn Byrom 5'7" | CG Kellyville | 2023 State OK | 5-6 G | Oklahoma Swift / Kellyville | 2023 | @ByromJosalyn
Not to bombard you with Oklahoma Swift players, but in all honesty, they deserve to be talked about. Byrom scored a lot over the course of the weekend, but more impressive than that was the tremendous vision and passing ability that she showed. A fellow scout and I were watching together when she threw an almost 3/4th court, no-look, bounce pass. It was the kind of thing you just don’t see that often at that level and when you leave two professional scouts with their mouths agape, you really have done something special. It wasn’t a one-off, either. She dished out sweet passes all weekend long. Her defense was no joke either. Byrom is a great on-ball defender. Really a great all-around player.
Bella Slocum | 5-10 F | P.L.U.T.O Prospects / Woodland Park | 2023 | @bellaslocum2023
A stretch four who has really good size, Bella can shoot the rock. Better than that, she goes absolutely beast mode down low. When she wants the ball and wants to finish inside, it would be best for you to not get in her way. She battles hard and uses her size and strength very well. She is a high-energy player who gives maximum effort during her minutes. She has that “wants it” factor that really stands out anytime she is on the floor. Slocum is a very fun player to watch and her P.L.U.T.O squad had some really good games predicated a lot on her ability to finish inside and out.
Kamee Hart Kamee Hart 5'10" Doherty | 2023 CO | 5-10 F | P.L.U.T.O Prospects / Doherty | 2023 | @kamee_hart
One more stretch four to add to your list of prospects, coaches. Kamee is long and strong and has a really nice lefty finish down low. She not only stretches the floor with her ability to step out and shoot, but she has the handles and vision to almost handle things like a guard when out on the perimeter. Add in the fact that she plays incredible defense inside and out and you have the makings of the type of player that every college coach seems to be looking for these days. Hart – like pretty much her entire P.L.U.T.O squad – is a hard worker who gives maximum effort all game long. She communicates well on defense and does a good job helping out when defending driving players without getting herself into foul trouble. Kamee is a really good one and I look forward to seeing more of this team down the road!
