In the end, our 16U champion was crowned, but on the way there we had stand-out players from almost every team in attendance. Here are the top five players from last weekend and what they did to make themselves stand out to the scouts in attendance — and presumably the college coaches watching in the arena and online.
Delaney Roller Delaney Roller 5'9" | SF Har-Ber | 2024 State AR | 5-10 G | Oklahoma Swift / Har-Ber (AR) | 2024 | @delaneyroller24
The team that would go on to claim the championship of the 16U division is absolutely loaded and may feature the most Division-I level talent of any team on the PGH Circuit in the 16U age group. Delaney’s name can be added to that list. I have seen Swift play a lot, but I feel like this past weekend may have been one of Roller’s best. The term gets thrown around a lot by scouts and coaches, but Roller is a true-life three-level scorer. A guard with great size, she uses her strength to force her will inside and scores at the rim, often picking up the foul in the process. She hits the three consistently after working off the ball to get in great position. She also has one of the best mid-range jumpers in the building where she shows off her outstanding hops to rise up above pretty much any defender. Delaney can defend almost any position on the floor with her size and ability to move. It is hard to work her into a mismatch if you are the opposing team. Truly a superb all-around player!
Vanessa Coleman Vanessa Coleman 5'10" | SF Tulsa Union | 2025 State OK | 5-9 G | EYG / Tulsa Union (OK) | 2025 | @Vanessa1_2025
Another player who was an absolute revelation this past weekend was Vanessa Coleman Vanessa Coleman 5'10" | SF Tulsa Union | 2025 State OK . EYG, as a team, had a great all-around weekend, playing their way into the quarterfinal and bowing out to the eventual champion, Oklahoma Swift. Coleman is a really strong, well-built guard who will not be bullied off of the ball by any defender. Though she has the handles to play the one and the shooting ability for the two, she has the strength and inside ability to play the three or four, also. Defensively, she showed quick hands when guarding some of the best guards from around the midwest and came up with a good amount of steals in one-on-one defensive situations. She can knock down the three with a lightning-quick release that is virtually unstoppable. She has the ball for a split second before letting it fly, where it almost always hits nothing but the bottom of the net. I look forward to catching more of Vanessa’s play this upcoming high school season!
Sariah Fuentes | 5-6 G | Houston Lady Nets / Klein Cain (TX) | 2025 | @fuentes_sariah
This Houston Lady Nets team is absolutely loaded with some really talented, really young players. They have several players who can slash and score almost at will. However, when the time comes for a big-time three-point shot, there is only one person who is going to have the ball in her hands. Sariah Fuentes can absolutely knock it down. Hand in her face. Three defenders sprinting her direction. Yelling at her from the bench right behind her while she shoots. It doesn’t matter. She is clutch. Fuentes hit some big-time buckets to help the Nets move through to the semi-finals this past weekend. She also played stellar defense and came up with some huge steals at some of the most important times of the game. Sariah is a hustler who gives everything she has all game long and really just seems like a coach’s dream. A great all-around player!
Annaston Brown Annaston Brown 5'10" | SF Tahlequah Sequoyah | 2024 State OK | 5-9 G | Oklahoma Lady Fusion / Sequoyah (OK) | 2024 | @AnnastonBrown
Annaston is just a tremendously well-rounded guard and the improvement that I have seen in her game over the last few years is absolutely jaw-dropping. She is a big, strong guard who is completely unafraid to get inside and bang. She does a great job of working on both the offensive and defensive glass and is a smart rebounder who consistently searches out a body and boxes out. Brown’s calling card all weekend was undoubtedly her three-point shooting, without which I dare say that Fusion probably would not have made it to the 16U championship. Annaston had some HUGE shooting games and showed the ability to score consistently from just about anywhere in her half of the court. She moves well laterally and has good speed and therefore has the ability to defend positions one through five. Brown is a player that you college coaches are going to want to keep an eye on, without a doubt. She is most definitely a big-time prospect!
Landrie Polk Landrie Polk 5'6" | PG Weatherford | 2025 State TX | 5-6 G | Texas Platinum / Weatherford | 2025 | @polk_landrie
Polk was one of the best pure point guards that I saw all weekend… or at least that’s what I had written down in my notebook after the first game or two. I saw her defend well, I saw her tossing precision passes to backdoor cutters and reading the defense like a book. She was doing all of that point guard stuff and was already a stand-out. Then, as her Platinum squad progressed further into the tournament, I saw her hit a series of quick-release, long-range bombs that were just staggering and had me scribbling even more notes. As opposing teams began to yell “SHOOTER” when she touched the ball, I was writing the same thing. Landrie still didn’t stop letting it fly as she filled up the scorebook. She is a clutch shooter who clearly wanted the ball in her hands at the most important times of the game. On a team as talented at every position as Platinum is, it can be hard to really jump off the page, but Landrie Polk Landrie Polk 5'6" | PG Weatherford | 2025 State TX found a way. She is a definite star!
