The first thing that caught my attention was her speed with the ball. She can flat out cover some ground with the ball and she does a good job of maneuvering through defenses. She has the ability to handle the ball with her left and right hand and she can get to the basket with an array of finishes, including floaters, reverse layups, and left and right-hand layups. Lauber can also shoot the long ball, but she had the midrange game sizzling all weekend long. She can get her shots against the man-to-man defenses and can also get into the heart of zone defenses for her sweet midrange shot. Lauber is also a good passer. She has an array of shooters on her team and she does a good job of pushing the ball ahead and creating open shots for her shooters. Defensively, Lauber does a good job playing on-ball defense. She does a good job of using her speed to defend other guards and cut off angles and force guards to pick up their dribble.
Sophie Flair F (Nona 2023) was one of the most versatile players in the tournament. She can shoot the three with accuracy and consistency, and she can get to the goal to get buckets. Her moves to the goal were incredible over the weekend. Flair has the ability to handle the ball and she has the ability to get to the goal at all sorts of angles and finish the deal.
Leah Rivera Leah Rivera 5'6" | CG Lake Nona | 2024 State FL SG (Nona 2023) Was flat-out shooting that ball on day one of the tournament. The sharpshooting junior connected on 5 three-pointers in game one on Saturday. She connected in some long-range shots on Championship Sunday, including some nice shots in the championship game.
Analyse Rios Analyse Rios 5'4" | PG Timber Creek | 2023 State FL CG (Nona 2023) is another speedster on the floor for Nona. Rios is aggressive at getting to the goal and she has the quicks to do so. On day one, in particular, she did a good job of getting to the rim for finishes. She finished with euro steps and floaters. The junior guard is shifty and crafty, she can handle the ball, and can create shots for herself and her teammates. Defensively, she puts constant pressure on the opposing guard and makes them work for everything.
Ciarra Barr G (Ultimate Warrior Pink). I really liked the energy that Barr played with on both ends of the floor. Barr was really impressive and is an opportunist on the defensive end. She will make you pay if you are lackluster or careless with the ball. She can take the ball to the goal and her left-hand floater is a thing of beauty.
Alexandria Gonzalez G (Ultimate Warrior Pink) was flat out balling at Ball’in in the Bay. She has a really good all-around game. Gonzalez handles the ball well and does a good job of feeding the ball to her posts players on the inside and passing to open players on the wings. She can shoot the ball well from all levels on the court, but she is most potent in the midrange area. She made some nice shots after ball fakes and head fakes. She is very crafty with the ball in her hands.
Maiyah Hall F (Ultimate Warrior Pink) has good length and really gets after it on the floor. She runs the floor very well and can put the ball in the basket when in the painted area. Defensively, Hall showed she can defend not only in the paint but is versatile enough to defend the wings. As a Junior in high school, Hall averaged nearly 6 points per game. She was in double digits or close to double-digit in a lot of games last year in high school. The way Hall runs the floor and scores in the paint, she is capable of averaging double digits in points in her senior campaign.
Meriah Finch F (Ultimate Warrior Pink). The Forward has good size and really did some nice things on the court. She is one of those players who does a lot of little things on the court. She was tenacious on the floor and battled on the offense and defensive boards; she helped in press break; and she showed the ability to defend multiple positions on the court.
