PGH hosted four different regional finals across the country for the 2026-2023 classes. The teams compete in a series of different tournaments throughout the spring and then battle for the number one spot at the finals. Here is a recap of Sunday for the 2025 and 2026 classes.
2025 Championship
This was by far one of the best games of the tournament and was loaded with up-and-coming big-time prospects. The championship game was played by The City (Black) and the Wisconsin Shooters (Gold). From the jump the two teams were up and down the floor quick and looking to score in transition. For the first 7 minutes the two teams exchanged baskets. The City put on a 3-2 zone to slow things down a bit on the defensive end but the Wisconsin Shooters knew exactly what to do and set up a 1-2-2, where they executed it flawlessly. They worked the ball around quickly leaving Addison Miranda Addison Miranda 5'7" | SG Pius XI | 2025 State WI , one of the best three-point shooters in the class, open in the corner for some easy catch and shoot threes. Point guard Georgia Acompanado Georgia Acompanado 5'8" | PG Pius XI | 2025 State WI was huge doing everything she could to help her team, whether it was rebounding, attacking the rim, or knocking down shots. At the half the Wisconsin Shooters were up 34-28.
Late in the second half the top 30 ranked freshman Aneisha Scott Aneisha Scott 5'6" | PG DeLaSalle | 2025 State MN took over, with her ability to get to the rim and her skill in the open court. Teammate London Harris London Harris 5'9" | CG Hopkins | 2025 State MN also stepped it up in the second half, where she was able to beat her defender off the bounce and run out in transition to get easy fast break layups. The City stormed back at the end beating the Wisconsin shooters 65-57 and were crowned back-to-back Legacy Region Champions.
2026 Championship
There was one team that stood out all tournament in the 2026 Division: 212 Basketball Academy (Black), took care of business in all four games. The squad from Iowa beat Air Minnesota in the Championship game by 18. The first half of the game started out a little slow where 212 led 16-10, but in the second half things picked up and they were able pull ahead. Adalyn Long of 212 was the key factor to their success, lighting it up from beyond the arc. The 2026 guard was one of the best shooters in the class this weekend, and really impressed us. Teammate Ella Rocis also came up big in the second half, hitting some big threes. Air Minnesota had little sparks through out the game that came from Jensyn Storhoff and Betsy Gillette, who shot the ball well. The Iowa club outscored them by 12 in the second half winning 46-24.
2025 Third Place
Similar to the championship game, the third-place game also came down to the wire, played by West Central United and Air Minnesota, where both teams went back and forth the entire game. At the half, WCU led by three and were able to hold on to the lead at the end when it mattered the most. A huge contribution came from the three-point shooting of Megan Thorfinnson who was on fire from the three and hit big shots when the team needed it. Teammate Allie Haabala Allie Haabala 5'7" | PG Alexandria | 2025 State MN also shot the ball well from beyond the arc. A huge effort from the two point guards of Air Minnesota, Ajiem Agwa and Kennedy Schammel were impressive down the wire, where they were both aggressive going to the hoop and on the defensive end, but it wasn’t enough at the end. West Central held on and won 55-53.
2026 Third Place
Diamond Elite and Wisconsin Fuel matched up in the third-place game. The home team came out the gate early, leading 15-28 at the half. Clare Morris from DE came up big having a monster first half and scoring whenever she wanted to. Diamond Elite’s defense proved to be too much for Wisconsin Fuel and held them to just 7 points in the second half winning the game 48-27.
The All-Tournament Team is coming up next.
