When faced with competition against three of the top post players at the event, she didn’t back down. She said full steam ahead. She’s really becoming a better ballplayer each week and learning how to use her body. And that’s causing trouble for a lot of people. This weekend, her multiple finishing moves created problems for Zaniah Zellous Zaniah Zellous 6'2" | PF George Washington | 2025 State WV and other Thunder players.
Daniels scored downlow by finishing strong, she finished by finding a jumper, and she finished at the free throw line. There weren’t very many double-doubles to be had this week, but Daniels finished close in most of her contests. Her improvements included a stronger finish on the way to the rim, better defensive range, and a more comfortable approach in the paint.
Olivia Tolland, OV Lady Dragons 2023 Black, SG, 5-10 – Tolland (pictured above) flashed an analytical game during the three days in Indiana. As she’s capable of playing multiple positions, she showed a proficiency at the point and at shooting guard. In several games, her solid decision making skills led to easy baskets for teammates and herself. Any coach interested in smart players should definitely add Toland to their list of considerees.
JLynn Risner JLynn Risner 5'11" | PF Rock Hill | 2025 OH , OV Lady Dragons 2025 Black, W, 5-10 – I received an opportunity to watch Risner play in the Prepgirlshoops.com Buckeye Breakdown earlier in May and she didn’t disappoint then when playing up a grade. Turns out she doesn’t disappoint when playing against kids her own age. Risner showed off a game where she was always around the ball. Whether on offense or defense, she had a hand in making something happen. Points, rebounds, steals, you name it and she helped generate it. She’s a smart IQ player who never stops.
Kyra Brown Kyra Brown 5'4" | CG South Charleston | 2023 State WV OV Lady Dragons 2023 Gray, PG, 5-5 – A street baller who isn’t afraid to take the ball inside, Brown showed an old school game that caused problems this week. Her speed and inventive approach gummed up the works for a lot of teams. At times, she ran the offense free and fast, while at other times her ability to penetrate drew the defense in and opened up shooters. She finishes with several weapons including a slashing attack as well as with a step-back and pull up jumper.
Makenna Walker, OV Lady Dragons 2023 Gray, W, 5-6 – Very high motor and large arsenal of scoring options for this young lady. She’s aggressive on defense, and finds ways to score through contact.
Gracie Shamblin Gracie Shamblin 5'10" | C Parkersburg South | 2024 State WV , OV Lady Dragons 2024 White, PG, 6-0 – On the offensive side of the ball, Shamblin creates a lot of problems for teams not prepared to stop her. She walks onto the court the owner of not only some wonderful acrobatic finishing moves down low, but she can heat up from 3 just as quickly. Her job isn’t just points, though. She’s another kid who always seems to be around the ball with her rebounding and hard-nosed defense. She may need to stop and take a breath at times, but she’s well on her way to becoming a college player if she so chooses.
