Forced into handling the ball more and taking more chances of scoring on the inside, she rose to the challenge. Flashing improved handles and some slick post moves, Jordan made the most of her chance when head coach Chris King needed her. She scored from all three levels, handled the ball in transition, and showed a willingness in getting creative on the block that may have been outside her comfort level.
Sydney Baird Sydney Baird 5'7" | CG Webster County | 2023 State WV , OV Dragons 2023 Black, G, 5-7 – Sydney Baird Sydney Baird 5'7" | CG Webster County | 2023 State WV is used to playing point guard. Well, at least at the high school level, anyway. So, what did she prove when taking over the duty among other college players? Simple. No matter what level she’s at, she can play the point guard. Really. Similar to Jordan, Baird used great patience and vision in steering the Dragons’ offense. She created first and scored second. The best example came in the opening game, after deferring to her teammates most of the early afternoon, she went on a personal 8-0 run to make a close game more exciting. Though the Dragons lost, she came out looking really good in the ask-me-to-do-anything-and-I-will-do-it department.
Kamryn Barnitz Kamryn Barnitz 5'6" | CG Fairland | 2025 State OH , OV Dragons 2025 Red, G, 5-6 – What was it like seeing Kamryn Barnitz Kamryn Barnitz 5'6" | CG Fairland | 2025 State OH in live action for the first time?
Easy.
Exciting.
Really exciting.
Wherever she was on the court she made plays happen. Lots of things. Try cool, spectacular and positive plays. Take her shot for example. She was confident, quick, and on top of all her deep shots. She may not have shot often, but when she did, she popped up, extended and followed through in the span of just a few moments. Then, her vision, cool-head, and passion at the point helped perhaps the deepest team in the Dragons’ organization squeeze out a 1-1 start. Even in the loss, she kept finding her teammates and making sure they were taken care of before looking for her own shot.
Ashlynn Van Tassell, OV Dragons 2024 Black, C, 6-2 – I am not sure what more I can say about Van Tassell. I’ve already talked about how she is a beast in the paint, how she uses her body to get rebounds, and how she scores and gets to the free throw line whenever she pleases. So, what else is left? Well, fresh off receiving an offer from Stetson, Van Tassell showed the willingness and capability to share the floor and the ball with a second big Jasmine Jordan Jasmine Jordan 6'2" | C Boyd County | 2024 State KY . The two stayed out of each other’s territory and understood one and others rebounding and scoring range. When they were both in the game together, the opposing team couldn’t get anything done inside. This was something she hadn’t yet showed in two years at Cameron, but now that she has, coaches who are recruiting her want to get another big to play alongside her.
Jasmine Jordan Jasmine Jordan 6'2" | C Boyd County | 2024 State KY , OV Dragons 2024 Black, C, 6-2- The biggest thing college coaches should be excited about with Jordan? She’s aware of and knows how to use her body on both ends of the floor? What does that mean? Where some bigs keep their soles firmly planted on the ground, Jordan jumps in passing lanes and isn’t afraid intercepting the rogue pass thrown without enough clearance over her lanky arms. Naturally, that’s what happened several times in her first two games of the tournament weekend. Not just once, but many times. Her range caused a lot of trouble on both ends of the floor, but she also showed off a few new post moves. There was a spin around fadeaway jumper, foul-line extended shot, and a little pull up 7 to 8 feet from the rim.
Mikayla Stacy Mikayla Stacy 5'10" | SF Wayne | 2025 State WV , OV Dragons 2025 Red, F, 5-11 – Two games into watching Stacy for the first time, one thing became crystal clear.
Wayne head coach Wade Williamson’s excitement in Stacy is justified.
She’s not just a second fiddle to Brooke and Addie Adkins Addie Adkins 5'11" | PF Wayne | 2025 State WV , she’s a player in her own right, one who makes noise and shows toughness on the floor. Though she didn’t have the greatest of scoring days, she was everywhere and did a little bit of everything for the Dragons. Keeping up with her Pioneer mantra, Stacy never said never and only showed a positive attitude and demeanor on the court. She got to the free-throw line, her long arms and legs interrupted passing lanes, and she was basically a menace on the defensive end, always moving and making things hard on her opponents.
Madeline Hall, OV Dragons 2023 Gray, G, 5-6 – Battler, hustler, hard worker. These are the adjectives perfectly describing Maddy Hall. Pick any one of them and they fit her to a tee. Such was the case Saturday during a low scoring affair for the Raider junior. Fueled on by a strength that may be among the highest in the organization, Hall went about making life hard for her opponents. Try in-your face, no-time-to-breathe or even collect-a-pass difficult, that was just the day it was. Even when she wasn’t causing trouble, her threat led to a few second guesses from her opponents where the Dragons generated a turnover anyway. If you are a coach who loves absolute Bulldogs, try inviting Hall for a campus visit.
