After a great Friday and Saturday of basketball, it was time to put a bow on this year’s late-May live period event with Sunday’s action. The venue, located in Council Bluffs – just outside of Omaha – welcomed teams from a number of states – including Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Oklahoma, Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Who did indeed save their best for last? Without further adieu, here is a glance at who did just that in the Midwest.
Jensyn Storhoff – 2026 – Lanesboro – Air Minnesota 2026 – Storhoff had herself an impressive showing at Prep Girls Hoops Live and that continued into its final day. She is listed as a 5-foot-5 point guard who thrives in the backcourt. She puts plenty of points on the board and one of the ways she does so is by driving to the rim and getting past defenders. She scored 10 points as her Air Minnesota 2026 began Sunday’s play with an offensive clinic against Colorado Sparks 2026. Storhoff is also a multi-sport athlete who takes to the volleyball court and the softball diamond alongside hoops.
Annessa Steif – 2026 – Kaukauna – Wisconsin Blaze 2026 Black – Steif’s team concluded its time at Prep Girls Hoops Live on a high note as the team earned a 35-11 victory over DC Queens 2026. Steif finished with 10 points in the victory. She keeps her hands out on defense and particularly can frustrate opposing teams with how well she defends inbounds passes. Steif stays ready to box out in case of an opposing team’s missed free throw in addition to what she can do with gathering rebounds. There is plenty to be excited about with her as her career advances through the high school ranks.
Juliana Harlow – 2026 – Hortonville MS – Wisconsin Blaze 2026 Black – The lone representative of the Bears on the AAU team’s roster, Harlow is a 5-foot-4 point guard on what is a guard-heavy Wisconsin Blaze 2026 Black assembling. She will put her fair share of points on and one way she does this is by driving to the rim past defenders. Harlow can get crafty with her scoring and passing and also has no issues launching and making 3-point attempts. She too had a first class finish – a 10-point outing on Sunday morning in her team’s 35-11 victory over DC Queens 2026.
Taylor Alcaraz – 2027 – Kinard MS – Colorado Sparks 2026 – Alcaraz’s travel team began the weekend tournament with an 18-10 victory over Missouri Legacy 2026. Colorado Sparks 2026 bookended Prep Girls Hoops Live with a hard-fought 38-37 win over Enid Lady Elite 2027 in come-from-behind fashion. Alcaraz’s bread and butter is what she can do from behind the 3-point line. Listed at 5-foot-4, she is also not afraid of contact and will sink her attempts from the free throw line. Alcaraz also plays with a confidence where she will call for the ball when she feels she can make plays. She scored 14 in the win over Enid Lady Elite 2027.
Gretchen Deines – 2026 – Resurrection MS – State 38 Basketball 2025 – In her team’s fourth and final matchup of Prep Girls Hoops Live, Deines stepped up when her team needed her the most. Deines buried a 3-point jumper which put her team ahead for good by a final of 35-34 over Omaha Supreme Basketball 2025 Thompson. She finished with seven points. Deines is also unafraid of drawing contact and getting to the free throw line. She also keeps her hands outstretched on many occasions when she is defending and is a heads up player who can take advantage of an opponent’s miscues.
Reagyn Allen – 2026 – Erie MS – Colorado Sparks 2026 – Consider this the “coming through in the Colorado clutch” portion of this article. Just as Deines did so for one Centennial State travel team, Allen did so for another by virtue of her two-point basket off an inbounds pass to lift her team to a come-from-behind 38-37 victory over Enid Lady Elite 2027. Allen is versatile and can make plays all over the court even though her 5-foot-9 build would make many think she is most suitable for being in the frontcourt. Allen only had four points throughout the game, but she delivered the bucket that mattered the most.
Brylee Meier – 2025 – Hayden HS – NorthSouth Basketball 2024 – An old saying is it is not how one starts, but how one finishes. Meier capped off what was a 3-1 weekend for NorthSouth Basketball 2024 with a 44-38 win over BC Denver 2024. She scored 17 points in the winning effort and did a great deal of her damage from the free throw line. Meier showed that she is a tough player who is not afraid to absorb contact. She displayed impressive ball handling skills and knows how to get past defenders and finish at the rim. Meier has also excelled on the defensive end of the floor.
Ladaysha Baird – 2024 – Topeka HS – NorthSouth Basketball 2024 – While Meier took care of business in the paint, Baird was a problem for opponents in the backcourt. That included what she managed to do from behind the 3-point line when she sank a trio of triples in her team’s 44-38 victory over BC Denver 2024. Baird scored 12 points in the victory. Defensively, she can match an opposing ball carrier step for step and move for move. Offensively, she knows how to get herself in the right position to make plays. She too will also absorb contact and get to the free throw line.
