The Sports Academy teams are now affiliated with Cal Swish/GBL and they are playing their teams on the NIKE EYBL circuit. We were in attendance to watch a few teams this weekend and this is what we took from it, evaluations of girls on these teams and how they performed on the court in front of scouts. These will be really enjoyable, because we got a lot of content and this is Part 1 of 3.
2023, Deyla Davis – strong agile guard who knows how to play the game and is one of the toughest defenders on the floor. She can score in a variety of different ways and she is a good teammate, coachable for sure. She pushed the ball for her team and made good decisions and was a vocal leader on the floor as we watched her play. She did a lot of the small things that mattered on the floor and she was not afraid to get after someone on defense.
2024, Kennedy Smith Kennedy Smith 6'0" | PF Etiwanda | 2024 State CA – is an athletic specimen with a nice game and skillset, she is the epitome of point forward and she is only gonna get better each and every time we see her. She is the overall #1 ranked player in California and she shows it each and every time on the floor, which we really appreciate and I believe she knows it as we watch her. Great size and body type, physical and agile, quick and strong, she can grab the rebound, push the break and make a good play for her teammates or finish it herself in transition.
2024, Ryann Bennett Ryann Bennett 5'6" | PG St. Anthony | 2024 State CA – is tough, skilled and getting so confident on the floor, she is in control of the game and uses her teammates well to assist or to score herself. She has impressed us from some time, we remember watching her a few years back as an 8th grader, she was impressive even then. She is a born leader on the floor and she shows it each and every time we watch her, she can score from all three levels and is one of the most aggressive guards in the state. She will do great things at the point this year for the Sparks.
2024, Faith Curry Faith Curry 6'1" | SG Liberty | 2024 State CA – can do it all, she is more of a wing than a post player, but do not get me wrong , she can play in the paint as well. Love her determination and skillset, she gets better each time I see her and she is gonna get better alot more in the near future. She is heralded and she is a tough customer on the floor, she will fight hard for a rebound and then kick the outlet to a guard and get into the lane for a transition layup. She has great size and uses it well, she will be tough to guard this coming spring and summer, she is really good to me as a scout.
