This weekend I was back in Louisville, but instead of focusing on a specific age group, I attempted to catch up with some Indiana teams I had yet to see this Spring, or those I just wanted to get eyes on one more time before everyone breaks for a June filled with team camps, elite camps, showcases, and all-star games. Below is a look at seven individuals who caught my eye for one reason or another on Saturday at Ohio Basketball’s “The Classic”.

, 2023, 6-1 PF/SF, Zionsville Community H.S.
– Laila has long been one of the top prospects in Indiana’s 2023 class, and throughout this past weekend, she was incredibly productive for her grassroots team. She has an athletic frame, good length, and she can run & jump with anyone in the class. Where she continues to improve is skillfully, as she is shooting it from the perimeter with a great deal more consistency than when she was younger, and she’s starting to handle it better in traffic. I’ve always been impressed with her versatility defensively.

, 2024, 5-6 PG, Evansville Memorial H.S.
– Playing in one of the toughest pools in the 2024 division, Avery went head-to-head with multiple guards already holding Division-I offers and stepped up her game to another level to match them. She shot it very well from the perimeter, got into the lane and scored or found open teammates, and all-in-all just took care of the basketball and didn’t get rushed into any decisions. Her strength at her size allows her to absorb contact, split traps, and even level off opponents when she is on defense.

Heritage Hills | 2025

, 2025, 5-4 PG, Heritage Hills H.S.
– Carlie has always been a smaller guard, but a year ago she was more of a shooter/scorer who was always hunting opportunities to put the ball in the basket. Saturday, she looked more like a traditional point guard, and she did several nice things for her team. She has good length at her height, she’s quick and shifty, plus she has good vision and a nice feel. She was able to get gaps and create, she has tightened her handle and been better against pressure, plus she was a pest defending the basketball.

– Icesis has been highly productive each time I’ve seen her this Spring, and she has a great deal of potential moving forward. She is a strong, physical, but athletic forward who plays with a ton of energy. She almost plays too fast at times and will need to learn how to change speeds depending on the situation, but you can’t fault her effort. She is a nice pursuing rebounder, she can defend multiple positions, and when she is determined to get to the basket offensively, I wouldn’t get in her way.
Kennedy Holman, 2026, 5-7 PG, Hamilton Southeastern H.S.
– Kennedy is a long, wiry, true PG who is always looking to facilitate. To me, there are some similarities to future teammate

in style of play, when you compare them at the same age. Kennedy seems to enjoy creating for others and getting after it defensively, which have been Olivia’s main strengths over the years. Kennedy looks like she could continue growing and finish in the 5-10 range (or taller), which could be scary for future opponents, because she is already skilled and talented.
Jacobi Warren, 2026, 5-7 SF, Carmel H.S.
– Jacobi is a very strong, physical wing, who looks like she’s transitioning from more of a power position to the perimeter. She is solid with the ball in transition, she looks comfortable around the perimeter offensively, but she also resorts to the mid-post at times to get a bucket. She is a solid all-around athlete, she played with a nice motor when I saw her, and she seemed to rebound her position well also. As she continues to develop her perimeter game, she could be a nice prospect for the Greyhounds.
Berkeley Williams, 2026, 5-5 W, Plainfield H.S.
– I listed Berkeley as a wing for the moment, because I’m struggling with labeling her by position. Simply put, she is a ballplayer. She has really nice length, wiry strength, and she plays with a tremendous motor. She can handle the ball and run or create offense, she can act as a ’2’ and knock down shots outside, plus she can use her frame to attack the basket and finish inside. She’s also incredibly versatile defensively and can take on multiple positions right now. She was fun to watch.
