The Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, SC has a fantastic facility that allows this event to run as smooth as possible. The Triumph Region of the PGH Circuit has been to: Bradenton, Knoxville, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Daytona Beach, Council Bluffs, and has made it’s final stop in Hub City. Here are the cream of the crop that stood out to me on Saturday:
Annarose Tyre Annarose Tyre 5'8" | PG Lambert | 2025 State GA | Georgia Flames | 2025
Annarose was the top 2025 I saw on Saturday as she led her team to a big win in round one. She has good handles and is shifty which is tough to stop when she’s going to the basket and creating off her dribble penetration. Her vision is stellar and she had the best pass of the day with a behind-the-back assist on a fast break. Annarose has a really smooth and solid game for her age with a nice shot from deep. I really enjoyed watching her defend as well with active hands that created turnovers. She’s a really tough rising Sophomore in Georgia that should be on everyone’s radar. GA Flames lost a tough one to FBC Blitz, and they will have two really good games tomorrow in a strong 16U division.
Marina Sippola Marina Sippola 5'9" | CG North Paulding | 2024 State GA | North Metro Elite | 2024
There’s something about a guard that wears a high number (#55). Marina has good length and is really crafty with the rock. She handles the ball well and can finish at a high level with both hands around the hoop. Her touch is soft with a nice mid-range jumper that’s a little unorthodox like the rest of her game which makes her tough to defend. NME won a double OT thriller over Team Passion that boosted them to 2-0 and a trip to the Final Four. They are tasked with a talented Team Nite Nite squad at 8am.
Bailey Hensley Bailey Hensley 5'10" | SG Madison Central | 2024 State KY | Richmond Heat | 2024
Bailey knows how to go out there and get a bucket. She couldn’t be stopped 15 feet and in, and she couldn’t be stopped on the boards either. Her mid-range game and ability to get to the rim and finish with her strong frame made her one of my favorite’s to watch on Saturday. She’s a vertaile hooper that can get it done on both ends with the skills of any position on the floor. Bailey plays up a class and still stands out in every matchup. Richmond Heat 2023 went 2-0 on the day behind two double-digit scoring performances from Hensley. They beat two quality teams and will need to win two on Sunday starting with Lady OTOD 2023 Pink at 9:05am.
Nia Blocton Nia Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL | MHD Elite | 2024
Nia is one of the toughest players to stop when she’s going downhill that I have ever seen. Every game I’ve watched, she has taken it coast-to-coast for a bucket at least a handful of times. Her frame is long, lanky, but strong. She has good height, and can handle the ball well for having that size. Nia was incredibly hard to stop around the rim on their way to a 2-0 day. They’ll have to get by Georgia Queen Elite if they want a shot at the 17U title.
Maya Robinson Maya Robinson 5'9" | SF NC GBB | 2023 State NC | Carolina All-Stars | 2023
Maya gave her team a chance in game one, but they fell just short. She was getting to the rim at-will and finishing with both hands as the top 2023 I saw. Her layup package was filthy with a lot of creative and crafty buckets at the rim. Maya’s game is smooth and strong, and she’ll need to bring it tomorrow in the Consolation Championship game tomorrow against Alabama Twisters Elite.
Caroline Mullins Caroline Mullins 5'9" | CG Pickens | 2024 State GA | Wood Elite | 2024
Caroline can use both hands as well as any girl’s basketball player I’ve seen. She shoots it righty, but her ability to dribble it, pass it, and finish it with her left is impressive. In their first game, she had a beautiful spin move and bucket that looked effortless. Her mid-range game is tough with a lot of elevation on her jumper. Big ceiling with this prospect out of GA. The 16U division is loaded, but Wood Elite (2-0) has a chance to get it done if they can get by FBC Blitz first.
