Continue ReadingWith the 2022 rendition of the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit getting closer and closer to its conclusion, the Triumph Region made its final stop of the year in the southeast.
That stop was the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina as the venue hosted the Triumph Region Finals. The first day was categorized by plenty of thrilling basketball games and lots of high-scoring matchups. Teams from the home state of South Carolina were on hand in addition to North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Kentucky.
Who showed up to the Palmetto State’s Upstate with their balling shoes on? Here is who did just that.
Bailey Hensley Bailey Hensley 5'10" | SG Madison Central | 2024 State KY – 2024 – Madison Central HS – Richmond Heat 2023 – Hensley has played stellar basketball throughout this year’s Circuit events and that continued into the first day of the Triumph Region Finals when her team defeated Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 by a 61-51 final. She tallied 11 points in the victory. Hensley is a proficient scorer who can put the ball through the basket in a number of ways – including at the free throw line and behind the 3-point line. She also has no issues using her 5-foot-9 height to her advantage and is not afraid to absorb a bit of contact.
Gracyn Grantz Gracyn Grantz 5'9" | SF Lafayette | 2023 State KY – 2023 – Lafayette HS – Richmond Heat 2023 – Grantz wasted no time making her presence known at Spartanburg’s Upward Star Center. She was the leading scorer in her team’s tournament-opening contest with Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 with 24 points. Grantz will make tough shots and is also unafraid of contact that can place her at the free throw line. A hallmark of what Grantz does offensively is how she can up the score from behind the 3-point line. She had four made 3-pointers in a contest where scoring was anything but at a premium. The game with Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 resulted in a 61-51 win.
Ashaunte Monday – 2023 – Pleasant Grove HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 – Regardless of what day it is, Monday comes to play any day her sneakers make contact with the hardwood. Defensively, she is a consistent threat to steal the ball and makes heads up plays that can give her team extra possessions. Offensively, she is fearless and has no problems attacking the basket even if a slew of opposing defenders are waiting for her. The 3-point shot is another element of her very vast offensive arsenal. In Alabama Twisters Elite 2023’s Finals-opening contest with Richmond Heat 2023, she scored 11 points.
Zamyra Goode Zamyra Goode 5'7" | CG Bob Jones | 2024 State AL – 2024 – Bob Jones HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 – Her team has been one of the premier teams on this year’s Circuit and Goode has consistently been one of the AAU bunch’s consistent players. She will throw defenders off balance with how she can score – either as a rim attacker or a 3-point shooter. Goode is tough, tenacious and never gives up on any play – and an element of that means absorbing contact and getting to the free throw line. The only Patriots representative on the travel team roster, she scored 14 points in her team’s Saturday morning matchup against Richmond Heat 2023.
Kennedi McCray Kennedi McCray 5'6" | PG Hoover | 2023 State AL – 2023 – Pleasant Grove HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 – McCray has been another reason why her AAU team has had such an impressive showing on the Circuit. She is a great runner of the floor, displays impressive ball handling skills and will take and drain many a 3-point attempt. The 5-foot-6 Spartans guard can also make things uncomfortable for opposing ball carriers as a defender and can collect a number of steals. McCray finished with a 14-point effort as her team began the weekend with a matchup with Kentucky-based Richmond Heat 2023. McCray played a big role in the Spartans concluding the 2021-22 season with a 27-7 record.
Niyah Stone – 2025 – Escambia HS – Team Passion 2024 – Stone was a name that caught our attention in one of the first games of the Triumph Region in early April at IMG Academy in Bradenton. At 5-foot-11, she very difficult to score on as her size plus her length makes her effective as a shot blocker. Stone’s bread and butter is in the painted area as she will look to convert on high-percentage tries. Another point of emphasis for Stone is the ability to create spacing. She scored 14 points as Team Passion 2024 earned a hard-fought victory over South Carolina-based H2 Lowco 2024.
Adyson Adams – 2025 – Pensacola Catholic – Team Passion 2024 – Adams is another of the many on the Team Passion 2024 roster that is currently playing up in class. She finished with 13 points in a 47-40 victory for her team on Saturday morning. Adams mostly plays in the backcourt as a guard, but can get into position to corral rebounds as if she were a forward or center. Collecting steals is one way she impacts a game as a defender. Adams is also very active away from the ball, displays a great degree of court vision and can also make plays in transition.
Tamya Hutchinson Tamya Hutchinson 5'4" | PG Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Hilton Head Christian Academy – H2 Lowco 2024 – If one word can be used to describe Hutchinson, that word would be fearless. She knows when to pass and when to score – which she can do plenty of. While she can be effective from downtown, Hutchinson uses her speed and quickness to advantage to get past defenders and finish at the cup. She is also not afraid to play the game on contact and get to the free throw line. Hutchinson scored 13 points and was key in an H2 Lowco 2024 comeback effort on Saturday morning against Florida-based Team Passion 2024.
Annarose Tyre Annarose Tyre 5'8" | PG Lambert | 2025 State GA – 2025 – Lambert HS – Georgia Flames 2025 – Tyre plays every game fired up. She stands at 5-foot-5 and has receives plenty of praise for what she can do on the defensive end of the floor. She will also do plenty of work on offense as well – including making creative passes her to her teammates, shooting and hitting her 3-point attempts and absorbing contact which can place her at the free throw line. Tyre also plays with a high basketball IQ. She did not have any fouls called against her while tallying 11 points in her team’s Saturday contest against FBC Blitz 2025.
Ellison Steinhauer – 2026 – Pickens MS – Georgia Flames 2025 – The Circuit proved to be very kind to Steinhauer as impressive as her play was throughout its duration. Listed at 5-foot-5, Tyre is confident in her ability to sink long range jumpers – whether they are 3-pointers or long two attempts. Steinhauer displays impressive handles and is able to slice and dice her way through an opposing team’s defensive set en route to the rack. She is also a threat to steal the ball and go the other way with it. She finished with 11 points in her team’s Saturday matchup with FBC Blitz 2025.
Ziqueria Woolfolk – 2023 – Veterans HS – One Step Away 2023 – She plays for a travel team called One Step Away and she seemingly is always one step ahead of her opponents. She can get crafty and creative with the ball in her hands as an attacker and can also shoot the ball from long range. Woolfolk is a heads up player who has a knack for reading an opposing team’s offense and it enables her to make more plays on defense. Another area Woolfolk excels at is in the transition game. She finished with 12 points as her team earned a commanding victory on Saturday afternoon over FGC Miracle Gold 2023.
Delaini Morris – 2023 – Port Charlotte HS – FGC Miracle Gold 2023 – Morris has had herself an impressive showing on the Circuit. She made a game-winning basket at the Triumph Region Kickoff at IMG Academy in Bradenton and brought her stellar play with her to the Palmetto State. She is listed at 5-foot-10 and combines the height advantage of a forward or center with the overall abilities of the guard she is listed as. Morris bolsters a team’s rebounding efforts and its defensive efforts with her ability to steal the ball and reject shots along with scoring. She is also very confident in her 3-point shooting. She finished with 17 points in her team’s matchup on Saturday with Georgia-based One Step Away 2023.
Tasia Agee Tasia Agee 5'7" | SG Warner Robins | 2023 State GA – 2023 – Warner Robins HS – One Step Away 2023 – One would agree that Agee was a huge reason why the Demons finished the 2021-22 season with a 25-6 record, a 13-0 mark at home and a berth in the 5A state semifinals. Agee can get from one end of the floor to the other with the ball in her hands and has no issues with absorbing contact and getting to the free throw line. She will also drain her attempts from long range and how active she is on the defensive end makes her a consistent threat to steal the ball and either score or pass. Agee finished with 18 points in a dominant One Step Away 2023 win over FGC Miracle Gold 2023.
Ty Johnson Ty Johnson 5'9" | SF Greenwood | 2026 State SC – 2026 – Brewer MS – Greenwood Storm 2026 – Johnson is 5-foot-9 and is one of two from Brewer Middle School as part of this year’s Greenwood Storm 2026 rendition. She can place a great deal of points on the board and gives opposing teams fits with how well she rebounds. Johnson can keep herself out of foul trouble and can shoot from the free throw line and from behind the 3-point line. She operates well in the transition game and is skilled with her ability to drive to the rim and finish strong. She scored 10 points in what was a one-sided Greenwood Storm 2026 victory over Grind To Shine (GTS) Basketball 2026.
Anastasia Gillam Anastasia Gillam 5'3" | PG JL Mann | 2027 State SC – 2027 – Calhoun Falls Charter – Greenwood Storm 2026 – The Prep Girls Hoops Circuit’s Triumph Region will be looked at as a high watermark in Gillam’s still developing career. She may be only 5-foot-1 but the speed and agility she brings to the court is only one of her attributes that makes her exciting to watch. Gillam is difficult to contend with on defense and those steals translate into her ability to run the floor well. She is especially unafraid of contact and will drain her attempts from the free throw line. Gillam dropped 15 points in her team’s dominant win over Grind To Shine (GTS) Basketball 2026.
Jenna Cothran Jenna Cothran 5'6" | SG Dorman | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Dorman HS – FCA Eagles 2024 – Cothran had to feel right at home at the Upward Star Center given the venue is only a short 15-minute drive from her Cavaliers home court. As South Carolina high school basketball fans know, Cothran’s calling card is her 3-point shot. She had the hot hand with the six treys she splashed for a 22-point outing in a 60-26 victory over Georgia-based Lady Grinders 2024 in her team’s second matchup of the day. Cothran, who can play as either a guard or a wing, is also adept at making the right passes and finding open teammates.
Andrea Guilford – 2026 – New Manchester HS – Team Nite Nite 2024 – There is a reason why Guilford is playing up two classes. She has shined at previous Circuit events – such as Knoxville Knockout and Peach Games and did the same at the Triumph Region Finals. Guilford brings a tough and confident attitude to the floor with how consistent a scorer she is. She runs the floor well in transition and makes things difficult for opposing ball handlers. Guilford is also not afraid of contact and will hit her shots at the free throw line. Team Nite Nite 2024 won both of its games on Saturday – including a 59-54 win over Miami Impact 2025. She scored 16 in the win.
Cornelia Ellington Cornelia Ellington 5'7" | PG Langston Hughes | 2025 State GA – 2025 – Decatur HS – Team Nite Nite 2024 – This C.E. is certainly one to see. Standing at 5-foot-6, she averaged 16.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals a game in 2021-22 as a freshman for the Bulldogs. Ellington will look to find spacing in the open floor and handles the rock excellently. She will take care of the ball even amongst a slew of opposing defenders and also makes the most of the court vision she possesses. Ellington will also take her fair share of 3-pointers and will hit paydirt on plenty of them. Ellington scored 12 points in a 59-54 victory for Team Nite Nite 2024 over Miami Impact 2025.
Teaira Kelley – 2025 – Walnut Grove HS – Team Nite Nite 2024 – Here is the tea on this Teaira – she is worthy of her basketball crown and high school hoops aficionados across the Peach State should take notice. Opposing ball handlers certainly do so when Kelley’s defense leads to a miscue and turnover where the ball finds the palm of Kelley’s hands. She is tough and absorbs a great deal of contact, meaning her sneakers make contact with the free throw line on more than one occasion. In Team Nite Nite 2024’s 59-54 victory over Miami Impact 2025, Kelley scored 12 points.
Stephanie Vega – 2026 – Somerset Silver Palms – Miami Impact 2025 – High school basketball fans across Florida are in for a treat watching this talented up-and-comer the next four years. Vega can get from one end of the floor to the other with the ball in her hand and will finish strong at the rim. She also understands she will absorb plenty of contact which means she sees the free throw line a lot. Vega finished with 23 points in Miami Impact 2025’s matchup with Team Nite Nite 2024 on Saturday. She averaged 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and two steals as an eighth grader – she is only getting started.
Victoria Valle – 2027 – Somerset Silver Palms – Miami Impact 2025 – The Somerset Silver Palms connection has done Miami Impact 2025 wonders throughout Circuit play. She is listed at 5-foot-4 and was a much-ballyhooed talent even in her elementary school days. Valle runs the floor well and particularly excels with making transition plays. She will take and make her fair share of 3-point attempts and brings a heads-up attitude to the game which enables to corral many steals. Defensively, she can see how an opponent’s offensive play will go and she gets one step ahead of said opponent to make a play on that end of the floor. Valle finished with 11 points in her team’s matchup on Saturday with Georgia-based Team Nite Nite 2024.
Malia Wilcox – 2025 – Bradley Central HS – Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 – One of two Bears on the Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 roster, Wilcox brings a wide set of skills to any team she takes the court for. She plays hard-nosed defense and will get herself into position to haul in rebounds. She has developed a skill for taking care of the ball as well as being a primary point guard that can organize an offense into a halfcourt set. Wilcox throws defenders off by increasing her speed off an iso situation and then deciding to either attack or pass. She scored 12 in a victory over Wood Elite 2025.
Arianna Calhoun – 2025 – East Hamilton HS – Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 – Calhoun is the only Hurricane listed on this year’s Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 roster. She stands at 5-foot-6 and boasts an offensive skillset that includes absorbing contact and getting to the free throw line in addition to what she can do as a 3-point shooter. Defensively, in addition to occupying the paint and near the rim, she will hustle out to the open floor to guard an opposing ball handler on the perimeter. Calhoun finished with 10 points in a Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 victory over Wood Elite 2025 with the final score being 42-27.
Gabbrylle Adams – 2024 – Berean Academy – Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 – The only representative of Berean Academy that is on the Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 roster, she stands at 5-foot-5. Adams contributed 10 points in her team’s first victory of the Triumph Region Finals – a 42-27 victory over Georgia-based Wood Elite 2025. Adams will frustrate opposing ball handlers as a defender with how she can match said ball handler step for step. She keeps her hands as active as she does her feet. Adams also stays active away from the ball. Offensively, she has a skillset that includes the ability to drain her 3-point tries.
Journey Smith Journey Smith 5'6" | PG Sylacauga | 2025 State AL – 2025 – Sylacauga HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2025 – Smith closed out the first day of the Triumph Region Finals in emphatic fashion as she scored 13 points in a 48-38 victory over Florida Lady Aces 2025. Eight out of the 13 were scored in the second half. She stands at 5-foot-6 and can change directions with the ball in her hand as she is dribbling. Smith can set herself up to be in position to corral rebounds and is not afraid of contact that can get her to the free throw line. A 3-point shot is another part of her overall game and she can make opposing ball carriers frustrated and turnover-prone.
