, Parkersburg High, SG, 5-6 - Balog has transformed into a two-way
player - one about to make a lot of noise in July and Parkersburg. She’s strong and really feels comfortable taking over a game - if the situation calls for it. She can bring the ball up the court or she can play off of the ball. She handles the ball well and finds ways to put the ball in the basket. She made some excellent drives and she can finish in a variety of ways around the rim. Give her an assignment and she will get it done. She’s strong, absorbs plenty of contact, and isn’t afraid to attack the basket or shoot the 3. On the defensive side of the ball, she moves her feet well. Also, she understands many presses on top of plenty of trap defenses.

Thanks to her comfort and composure on the court, she creates opportunities for herself and usually capitalizes on them. A typical big-scoring game from her includes at least one 3 and a shot where her vision really shines through. Having made her point last season, especially in the postseason, she’s a scoring bomb waiting to explode as Winfield competes in the uber-competitive Class AAA Region IV.

, George Washington, SG, 5-9 - Mallory can shoot the lights out. All of them. Put her in a gym and give her 100 shots and she’s easily going to hit 85-95% of those shots. It’s just how she’s built. Her competitive drive won’t let her miss those shots, not to mention all the work she’s done more than backs up those shot attempts. She’s without a doubt one of the must-see players in the state. I don’t care if she hasn’t played competitive basketball in almost one year, she’s got the will power, the talent, drive, and ability to immediately return to a high level of play right out of the gate.

, Buckhannon-Upshur, CG, 5-7 - Parke is a strong, slashing player whose going to be front and center for B-U in the fall. Following the loss of Big 10 Player of the Year Shelby McDaniels, Parke comes into the year as the player to watch. Not only because of her strength and slashing attack, but because she’s an attacker who’s smart and willing to get her teammates involved in the game.

and Edsell are about to open eyes. Edsell especially is a sharpshooter. Plain and simple. That’s not to say she doesn’t do anything else. She certainly does.
But she quickly squares up, quickly puts the ball in the air and shoots a high percentage, which just can’t be ignored. Her mechanics are easily repeatable. She shouldn’t have to adjust much at the college level. She’s a very talented sophomore. It’s hard to look past her shooting game as the best part of her overall package. That’s where she’s going to make her bacon at the next level. After a summer playing with Team Takeover, she’s been battle tested by a steady stream of tough competitors and will be among the Class AAAA all-state teams as the Cardinals return to the state tournament.
