Let’s step away from talking about crossovers, jump shots, blocked shots, and skill for a second…and give some credit to some kids who are not only talented but also fantastic teammates who show up in the energy department every second of every game. We all know skill matters and these kids have it, but what sets them apart is how they better their squad through unconditional support for their teammates, and positive energy on the court
Maya Nelson Maya Nelson 5'5" | CG Sioux Falls Christian | 2025 State SD – Sioux Falls Christian – 5’ 6″ CG – Current Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 49th
Maya is the definition of intangibles. She is a trustworthy guard who understands that what we call the “little things” in basketball lead to great outcomes. There is no doubt that her high IQ, fantastic character, and desire to see her team succeed helped her to play quality minutes at a young age on a talented Sioux Falls Christian team. She has undervalued handles and I see her becoming a point guard for her high school squad and potentially at the next level. She is a SMART player who you can trust to get it done on offense because she makes the right play at the right time. Whether you need a stopper on defense, a rebounder on both ends, a kid who hustles, or a timely shot or pass at the right time, she’s your kid. If you remove the need to see flashy plays and just look at fundamental, get it done, type of basketball she would be higher on the prospect list and I see her as one of the more underrated players in her class.
Ryan Hanssen Ryan Hanssen 5'11" | SF Lennox | 2025 State SD – Lennox – 5’ 10″ F – Current Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 20th
Ryan competed recently for her Pentagon Schoolers 15U squad at the Hardwood Challenge in Sioux Falls. She is a player who I feel has improved as much as any in her class from last season. She hustles and continues to make more and more plays on both ends for her team and really ignited her teammates when she was on the floor. Physicality, quickness, and experience continue to bode well for her as she ascends up the list of prospects graduating in 2025. She is a dynamic player who can play and guard positions 1-5 and supports her teammates whether it’s from the floor or on the bench.
Grace Peterson Grace Peterson 6'0" | SF Sioux Falls Washington | 2025 State SD – Sioux Falls Washington – 5’ 11″ F – Current Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 25th
Grace is 5’11″, has a fantastic attitude and work ethic, and a solid all-around game. She can operate on the perimeter which is impressive combined with her length and height, and she has a really great motor. Getting out and running the floor in transition and great ball security stand out for this young lady on the offensive end. She is a great defensive asset as she is able to defend multiple positions and rebounds the ball well. A fun athlete to watch she is a great supporter of her team and demonstrates great character. Look for Grace to be a core piece of the continued Sioux Falls Washington run of success for another 3 years.
Ava Craven Ava Craven 6'0" | SF Winner | 2025 State SD – Winner – 5’ 11″ F – Current Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 14th
Ava is another basketball player that fits the mold of D1 basketball prospects. She’s 5’11″, athletic, has a great basketball IQ at a young age, and has all the intangibles to go with her skill. A true deep-range threat Ava can ignite runs of scoring on the basketball floor for her team with lights-out shooting. She has a fantastic release point above the defense with a quick trigger and smooth finish. A name to watch in a successful program she will look to be a cornerstone portion of her Warrior program. The energy she plays with is infectious and she is a huge contributor to helping her team succeed every time she touches the court.
Keira Austin Keira Austin 5'3" | PG Centerville | 2025 State SD – Centerville – 5’ 4″ PG – Current Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 55th
Austin is a constant supporter of her teammates on both her hometown Tornado squad and in the summer for the Pentagon Schoolers 15U team. She is a quality point guard prospect with solid handles, vision in the half-court offense and transition, a consistent shot from deep, and speed. You can hear her giving orders on the offensive end and using her voice on defense to keep her team engaged and informed. Keira looks to continue to improve her game and will be a player that undoubtedly betters her teammates game in and game out with her high-level energy and passion for the game.
