The teams attending included: Poston Butte, Thatcher, Deer Valley, Miami, Ridgeline Academy, Mountain Ridge, Flagstaff, Catalina Foothills, Sandra Day O Connor, Eastmark, Southern Arizona Prep, Canyon View, Sunnyside, Peoria, Cibola and Casa Grande.
Take a look at these top performers to be standout prospects this upcoming season:
2023 6’1 W/F Miyah Verse ( Mountain Ridge): Verse is a dynamic prospect for the class of 2023. She really can do it all. She uses her strength and speed to get by defenders and finish through contact. She also has a really good feel for the game as she is an exceptional passer at her position. Verse is an all-around talent capable of playing/guarding multiple positions at the next level. Look for Verse to be a standout player again next year.
2023 5’11 Hannah Uhlenhop Hannah Uhlenhop 5'10" | PG Mountain Ridge | 2023 State AZ (Mountain Ridge): Uhlenhop is a floor general. She has an amazing feel for the game and knows exactly where her teammates are going to be. She likes to push the pace and find open teammates in transition. She also showed the ability to finish at the rim as well as shoot it from the arc. Look for Uhlenhop to have a big senior year for Mountain Ridge.
2023 5’8 G Sage Begay Sage Begay 5'8" | SG Flagstaff | 2023 State AZ (Flagstaff): Begay does it all for her Flagstaff team. She defends the opposing teams best player, knocks down big shots, and passes the ball extremely well. Begay is an elite prospect in the class of 2023 and will have a huge upcoming season for the Eagles.
2023 5’7 G Adriana Bachman Adriana Bachman 5'7" | SG Poston Butte | 2023 State AZ (Poston Butte)- Bachman is the nucleus of her team. She is an elite defender that is very quick laterally and does a phenomenal job staying in front of her opponents. Offensively, she sees the court well and good things happen when she has the ball in her hands.
2023 5’10 G Caylie Holyfield (Cibola): Holyfield is an all around talent. She is a really good ball handler and uses her athleticism to explode past defenders and finish at the rim. Her size allows her to shoot over shorter defenders and guard any position on the court. She is one of a few prospects capable of playing multiple positions at a very high level.
2023 6’1 F Rori Hoffmeyer (Cibola): Hoffmeyer has really good size at 6’1. She is an elite rebounder and rim protector on the court. Offensively, she is quicker than opposing bigs and does a really good job at fighting for position/finishing in the post. She is a big time prospect in the class of 2023.
2023 5’ 9 W/F Ashlyn Thompson (Thatcher): Thompson is high-motor prospect in the class of 2023. She plays extremely hard and rebounds exceptionally well. She does it all for the Lady Eagles. She can rebound, defend multiple positions, play in the post, and is more than capable of bringing the ball up the court for her team. Look for Thompson to have a big year for the Thatcher Lady Eagles this season.
Achol Magot Achol Magot 6'5" | C Southern Arizona Prep | 2023 State AZ 6’7 (Southern AZ Prep): Magot is an interior force. At 6’7 she is able to alter any opponents shot that tries to get to the rim. She is an elite rebounder and is able to track missed shots and score over shorter defenders with ease. She is ranked as the 2nd best post player in Arizona for a reason.
2023 5’6 Ahmya Thomas (Southern AZ Prep): Thomas is an explosive guard player. She is extraordinarily quick and is able to easily beat her defenders off the dribble. Her aggressive on-ball defense results in many steals and deflections for her team. Thomas also has the ability to shoot from the perimeter. Thomas is an exceptional athlete in the class of 2023.
2023 6’1 Katy Frost Katy Frost 6'0" | PF Sandra Day | 2023 State AZ (Sandra Day O’Conner): Frost is a gritty player. She is physical in the post and rebounds exceptionally well. Her ability to use her size to gain position in the paint is very impressive. Frost also showed the ability to stretch the floor as she knocked down a couple open threes. Defensively, she holds her own against taller/bigger opponents by being more physical than her opponents. Frost is a very good post prospect in the class of 2023.
2023 6’0 Michaela Lee Michaela Lee 6'0" | PF Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ ( Deer Valley): Lee is a really talented post player in the class of 2023. She uses her size to her advantage and is dominant in the post. If she gets the ball down low, she is going to score. She is also an elite rebounder and gets easy put backs off of offensive rebounds. Defensively, she has great length and is able to alter opponents shot attempts. Lee is a big time prospect in the class of 2023.
2023 5’11 Kaitlyn Elsholz Kaitlyn Elsholz 5'11" | CG Sandra Day | 2023 State AZ ( Sandra Day O’Conner): Elsholz can straight up score the ball. She has the ability to break down her defenders off the dribble, shoot over shorter defenders in the lane, and knock down shots from the perimeter. Defensively, she has great length and IQ. She is really good at staying in front of her opponent, creating deflections and getting steals. Elsholz is one of the premier players to watch in the class of 2023.
