Saturday’s games featured interesting matchups that rarely get seen during the regular season due to different class levels and perhaps travel logistics but with that said, numerous players performed well on Saturday Afternoon and here they are listed below:
Bleona Agushi Bleona Agushi PG Del Norte | 2025 State NM – Del Norte HS, Class of 2025
Bleona Agushi Bleona Agushi PG Del Norte | 2025 State NM is an ankle breaker, floor general and rhythm shooter all in one. The Combo Guard has a quick first step that does a good job of penetrating the lane by breaking double teams that occur when she operates the pick’n’roll. Agushi attacks the basket hard and showcased several floaters in the lane with soft touch over opposing defenders but can also knockdown the trey ball with ease; Bleona has good range and can hit from the wing and corner multiple times a game.
Zoe Brown Zoe Brown 5'10" | PF Valencia | 2023 State NM – Valencia HS, Class of 2023
Zoe Brown Zoe Brown 5'10" | PF Valencia | 2023 State NM is an athletic Forward who does a variety of things for the Valencia Jaguars; Brown is their paint presence on both ends who can score, defend, pass and rebound. Zoe has long limbs allowing her to cover a lot of ground in the open court and during a half court set – She can recover and block/alter shots, euro-step around defenders for easy layups and can shoot over smaller defender both in the pain and out beyond the 3pt line where she is starting to become more consistent.
Mila Espinoza Mila Espinoza 5'4" | CG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM – Volcano Vista HS, Class of 2025
Mila Espinoza Mila Espinoza 5'4" | CG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM is a solid floor general with the ability to catch fire from behind the arc. Mila makes the game easier for her teammates with her ability to create as she delivers passes accurately in a variety of ways – She can drop “no look” passes, bounce passes on the run and over the top outlets passes for transition points – However, that does not mean she does not look to score, Espinoza does a good job of knowing when to attack and and get to her spots. Mila can both finish at the rim and hit the 3ball with good arc and balance on her shot.
Ciprianna Garcia – Escelante HS, Class of 2023
Ciprianna Garcia is an offensive threat who scores in multiple ways. Garcia is a deadly 3pt shooter who can hit multiple 3s a game from different spots and can finish at the rim thru contact. Ciprianna does a good job of moving without the ball, she flashes and cuts to the open area really allowing her team to have the correct spacing to operate; Because of the attention she draw, Garcia’s teammates often benefit and have one on one matchups. On the other end of the court, Ciprianna is a terrific help side defender who caused multiple deflections and steals on Saturday afternoon for the Lady Lobos.
Shania Gallegos – Capital HS, Class of 2025
Shania Gallegos is a quick guard that showcased to ability to finish and score at the rim and in the paint no matter who or how many guarded her. Gallegos was frustrating opposing shot blockers with her high floaters in the lane and was not afraid to take it amongst the trees; Shania has a really soft touch and knows how to find the right angle on the glass no matter if she is head on (straight) or off to the side. Perhaps the most impressive make of the afternoon came from Gallegos with a scoop layup on the fast break with TWO chasing defenders, one on both sides of her, where she kissed it high off the glass for an AND1.
