JJ Glass-Barnes JJ Glass-Barnes 5'8" | CG The Prairie School | 2025 State WI
The reigning Metro Classic player of the year showed loads of promise in her freshman season. Barnes is a strong guard who does most of her damage in the paint. I love the physicality she plays with and how she plays without fear. When I’ve watched her, I always felt she believes she’s the best player on the floor. The 5-foot-8 guard put together an incredible first season with plenty of room to grow.
Makena Christian Makena Christian 6'0" | PF Hartford | 2025 State WI
After a first-team all-conference season in the North Shore Conference, Christian has continued her momentum into the AAU season. She’s played up for Wisconsin Lakers and has looked like she’s more than belonged with that group. Christian carried a lot of responsibility right out of the gate and thrived at Hartford. She led the conference in scoring and was second in rebounding. The 6-foot wing/forward is as polished as anyone in the state.
Rainey Welson Rainey Welson 5'9" | CG Hortonville | 2025 State WI
It’s not easy to join a team where six other kids are all worthy of scholarships as a freshman. It’s even harder to lead that team in scoring and make them better, but that’s what Welson did last year at Hortonville. The Polar Bear showed that she might be one of the best perimeter scorers in the state already. She shot over 40% from the 3-point line and 85% from the free throw line. She also showed she could finish at the rim through contact.
Kristina Ouimette Kristina Ouimette 6'1" | PF Lakeland | 2025 State WI
The Lakeland freshman has an incredibly high ceiling. The younger Ouimette is 6-foot-1 and can shoot the lights out with or without space, and she has a high release and moves off the ball well. Her length gives her the ability to shoot almost any defender. That length also makes her ceiling on the defensive end high. Ouimette is athletic and reads the game well. The more reps she gets in high-level basketball, the better she’ll become.
Amy Terrian Amy Terrian 5'8" | PG Pewaukee | 2025 State WI
If the greater public didn’t know Amy Terrian Amy Terrian 5'8" | PG Pewaukee | 2025 State WI before the state tournament, the 31 points and win over undefeated Reedsburg made you know her name. Amy is an uber-competitive guard with excellent vision. She has as much confidence as anyone I know and isn’t afraid of anything or anyone. She fights for everything on both ends and works incredibly hard off the court. I love her game.
Lydia Aalsma Lydia Aalsma 5'10" | SG Waupun | 2025 State WI
Already a state champion, the youngest Aalsma has three years to try to achieve what her older sisters couldn’t. A second state title. After watching her operate at Summer Jam for Wisconsin Flight Elite , I think she has a chance to take a massive leap in her sophomore season. Aalsma is the most athletic kid in this class, has incredible length, and can stay in front of almost anyone. I think she has as high of a ceiling as anyone in this class. Keep an eye out for her development over the next three years.
Madison Fitzgibbon Madison Fitzgibbon 5'6" | CG Homestead | 2025 State WI
The North Shore Conference player of the year was the leading scorer for Homestead’s first conference title in decades. Fitzgibbon has a knack for finding ways to score in every way imaginable. Whether it’s at the rim or from 25 feet, Fitzgibbon can rack up points quickly. Even though she’s an undersized guard, she’s creative and skilled enough to figure out ways to score efficiently.
Tierney Madigan Tierney Madigan 5'10" | SG Laconia | 2025 State WI
If it hadn’t been a 3-22 team shooting performance from the 3-point line in the Division 4 state title game, Madigan would likely have been a part of one of the most unlikely state champions in state history. The lefty is one of the most effective freshmen in the state. She doesn’t need to score to make her team better. Madigan is a willing rebounder and grabbed about five in a row at a game at Summer Jam last weekend. She can even handle the ball and shake off an initial defender on offense. Her game isn’t as flashy as some on this list, but she’s as talented as anyone here.
Tess Wiczek Tess Wiczek 5'7" | PG Pius XI Catholic | 2025 State WI
I love guards who are hard to force into mistakes. I have seen Wiczek play about nine times now and can still remember each mistake I’ve seen her make. She’s extremley steady on the ball and maximizes her team’s possessions every time she gets the ball. Without Pius XI’s senior point guard this coming season, Wiczek will be entrusted with much more responsibility, and I think she’ll thrive with that responsibility on both ends of the floor.
Addy Verhagen Addy Verhagen 5'4" | PG Sheboygan Lutheran | 2025 State WI
Verhagen is a combination of production and flash that any neutral observer will love. She’s always looking for open teammates to get them easy baskets. Her vision is easily the best in this class and picks apart defenses at an elite level. I’m always impressed with how well she finishes in traffic. Even though she’s 5-foot-4, Verhagen can and will score around anyone at the rim. The freshman also pairs that with her shooting ability. I think she has a chance to be the best small school player in the state before she graduates.
