These players were incoming Freshmen, middle school players, and returning guards who are finally getting their time on the court. In this article, we look at the guards who fall into these categories and stood out in week one of the South Jax Summer League.
Hailey Revak Hailey Revak 5'4" | SG Orange Park | 2024 State FL (Orange Park 2024) Revak was aggressive on the court, especially from behind the three-point line. She is coming off of a six three-pointer performance at ESPN Disney. Yes, SIX threes! Revak has shot the ball well all AAU season and her confidence was visible during week one of the summer league. More importantly, Revak’s teammates and coaches were encouraging her to let it fly. Revak made 19 threes last season and look for that number to increase this upcoming season.
Tara Crews (Orange Park 2024 ) is going to be a big part of the Raiders’ success this year. Crews has a nice jump shot and is confident when she shoots the ball. She made some impressive shots, including a deep corner three-pointer during the summer league game I observed. Her shooting was reminiscent of her clutch shooting in the Regional playoffs against Rickards. Crews finished the season with 10 three-pointers. Crews also showed she could take it to the goal. She had a nice finish on the baseline that showcased her float game. Teams will be overplaying Eris Lester Eris Lester 5'10" | SF Montverde Academy | 2024 State FL when in zone defenses and that will leave Crews and her fellow guards open. This upcoming season, they will have the opportunity to put up some impressive offensive numbers.
Narissa Blocton (Ridgeview 2026). Blocton did some nice things on the court, especially in transition. She has speed and constantly is downhill. She is a very aggressive and athletic player and looks to score every time on every offensive possession. She has the speed and quickness to get some easy baskets and showed that she can draw the attention of the defense and get the ball to her teammates: Paetyn Miller Paetyn Miller 5'6" | CG Ridgeview | 2023 State FL on the outside and on the inside to her sisters – Nia Blocton Nia Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL and Nacoya Blocton Nacoya Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2025 State FL .
Presley Norman (Bolles 2027) Norman will play as an 8th grader next year and she looked like a Sophomore or Junior on the court. Norman looked comfortable handling the ball and she looked good shooting a midrange baseline shot and showed she could take the ball to the goal, going left or right. Norman is a confident player and despite her youth, she wants the ball when the game is on the line.
Bolles will also depend on increased contributions from 2024 guards Hilary Englert Hilary Englert 5'10" | SF Bolles | 2024 State FL and Gia Dodaro:
Hilary Englert Hilary Englert 5'10" | SF Bolles | 2024 State FL (Bolles 2024) (Pictured Above) has been impressive during the Spring AAU period. She has shown a lot of growth in her game, including accurate shooting from behind the arc, aggressive defense on and off the ball, and the ability to get to the rim from the right side and the left side. Englert is athletic, can shoot, and is extremely competitive. Hilary Englert Hilary Englert 5'10" | SF Bolles | 2024 State FL will be a force this coming season. Remember the name.
Gia Dodaro (Bolles 2024) has been a spark all AAU season. She has handled the ball well and has really shown leadership on the court. She does a good job in press break, has been aggressive on defense, and has shown the ability to get to the goal. Dodaro played well in limited play last year and this upcoming season, Dodaro will give Bolles quality depth in the backcourt and also a player who can make plays as she has done throughout this AAU season.
