I want to take a step in a different direction and hit on some returning impactful players that maybe not everyone has heard of as much, but have had a sizeable role in their teams’ program. I expect these athletes to be a big part of their teams’ offense and defense. Here are some players to keep an eye on. Here we go!
Brylie Peterson Brylie Peterson 5'6" | PG West Fargo | 2024 State ND : West Fargo High School, 2024
As earlier mentioned in the Sanford Combine write up, Brylie has a ton of good qualities to her game. Last year for the Packers she put up 149 points, 114 rebounds, 60 steals, and shot a solid 32% from the field. She is a very tough player who brings many good qualities to the table offensively, and defensively. Her ability to handle the ball, and fight for rebounds is impressive for her size (5’7″). She is a tough kid that plays with a ton of heart, and who doesn’t appreciate that? I don’t have any doubt she will put up some good numbers this year in West Fargo, she will be one to keep an eye on.
Hannah Litzinger Hannah Litzinger 5'9" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND : Grand Forks Red River, 2024
Hannah will return with a respectable resume’ under her belt already. Last year she tallied up 171 points, 177 rebounds, shot 36% from the field, and picked up 41steals for the Roughriders as well as an All-City Selection. She has many good upsides to her game and knows how to use her size and strength to rip the boards down off the glass. Not only is she defensively good, but offensively she is gifted as well. She shot 33% from behind the arch this last year and isn’t afraid to take the open shot and make them. The combination of that, quickness and the ability to drive the lane, she will have a even bigger role for the Roughriders next year.
Karson Sanders Karson Sanders 6'0" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2023 State ND : West Fargo Sheyenne, 2023
Sanders the 6’ forward for Sheyenne will be returning for her Senior Season and looking to make even a bigger statement than she did last year. In her Junior year, she contributed to her team in multiple statistical categories. She put up 240 points, 206 rebounds, 36 blocks, and shot 75% from the line. She has good size to her and can be a defensive nightmare for other teams by blocking shots and protecting the paint. Not only that, but and she proved she can also knock down the longer shots hitting from behind the arch, and has a really nice step-thru to add to her bag of talents. She had a great year last year in her Junior season, and I expect her numbers to climb this season and be big piece to the Mustangs offense.
Olivia Hammes Olivia Hammes 5'7" | CG Fargo North | 2025 State ND : Fargo North, 2025
Hammes, the returning Sophomore for Spartans will be looking to make an even bigger impact than she did last year. As a Freshman she played in 24 games and added 121 points, 151 rounds, 33 steals, shot 30% from behind the arch and an impressive 72% from the free-throw line. She is young, but she has proved she is a shooter and knows how to knock them down to say the least. She is tough defensively and is what I refer to as a “bulldog” as a defender. She uses her speed and size very well ,and is very fluid. With a little more shooting and minutes under her belt, she could have a breakout year for Fargo North. She will be a fun one keep and eye on and she is only going to get better.
