Let me start by saying Talent Is Everywhere, I hashtag it over and over yet it amazes me at those who attempt to reinvent the wheel with new ideas that usually don’t make any sense, yeah it sounds good yet either you get it or you will at the end when it’s too late so I inadvertently omitted Jena Warden from the group picture so she gets the standalone right here
Kaydence Menchaca-5’7 CG (AC Jones) 2024
Menchaca was caught by me in passing at a huge event a couple of seasons ago and then again by video however the video did not do her any justice after I saw her put on a show that gave me a look at a wide variety of her skills. She scores off the dribble, she can create her shot and drain the jumper, and she can drop it coming off the screen but her quick release is something that is hard to deal with because she can catch and release with accuracy. Solid ballhandling and court-vision were also nice
Jenna Warden-5’9 G (Silsbee) 2025
Warden impressed me so much 3 years ago playing with the HS squad, do the math, she was in the 6th grade, that I dropped the #D1Lock on her and what I enjoyed most about her game is that it was complete. She can take over a game or get everyone involved because she sees the floor and makes the right passes at the right time but her off-the-dribble and finishing with contact is steady yet that pull-up jumper is so smooth and accurate, it’s picture-perfect as she elevates over the defender and she drops it from mid to long-range
Abby Seitz Abby Seitz 5'9" | CG Vista Ridge | 2025 State TX -5’6 CG ( Vista Ridge) 2025
Seitz left a lasting first impression, yes she creates her shot nicely under pressure, understands how to get out of the trap, she also understands when the double-team is coming however she also understands she can shoot the ball from just about anywhere on the court and when I write DEEP in caps, that should tell you a lot about her long-range shooting. The midrange is also nice, she understands how to mix it up to attack off the dribble, she handles the ball in the open court and sees the floor very well
Lilah Yanover-5’3 PG (EKHLA) 2026
Yanover was a pleasant surprise and either in the skills or games, she found ways to stand out. She dazzled me handling the ball, I love that for a number of reasons yet her hypnotizing the defender and then exploding past them was pretty impressive, and so were her finishes, including after contact. She also dropped the jumper, with a hand in her face, mid to long-range but her ability to control the tempo also stood out, plus she was vocal on the court
Nadia Adeleke-5’8 G/SF (Vista Ridge) 2026
Adeleke is doing some powerful stuff around the basket, let me issue a #THROWBACK stamp of approval as she “plays taller than her size” and believe it or not Ripley, that was common back in the day however she has the “you won’t outwork me” mindset, also from another era and watching her battle taller players for everything off the rim was a joy for me to see. She scored off the dribble, with either hand, she rebounded on both ends, scored on putbacks, and applied defensive pressure inside and outside the paint
MaRiyah Alfred-5’7 G (Silsbee MS) 2027
Alfred just got the #D1Lock dropped on her this year, I was close last season yet she has added too much to hold her back. She has that “hard to handle” first step and her using it against players already in HS and on the verge of playing at the next level, spoke volumes yet the noise was turned up as she showcased her variety of ballhandling in the open court, the HEZ and crossover coupled with the good body control to finish yet her jumper, mid to long-range, was nice and will keep getting better
