The camp is called All Eyez On Me which in laymen’s terms means my eyes are on every player, every player gets evaluated and that’s the way I JUST DO IT because I don’t need to see players on certain platforms, I know where the bar was set 20 years ago.
I’ve gone through the political nonsense with petty national evaluators when my daughter played, she had over 100 D1 offers, won a National Championship at Texas A&M, and has been in the WNBA for 9 years, yet she wasn’t good enough to be chosen by those in power for McDonald’s because I kept her INDEPENDENT even though she outplayed many of the guards they picked, me cursing them out probably didn’t help but the bottom line is I was right and everyone gets a fair chance when I’m involved so here are the SIX of the Top Players from Session 1
2026
Kenedi Griffin- 5’6 (Hardin Jefferson)
Griffin caught my eye last season and I speak often about what I look for in players I already know about and that is progression and to say she has taken a huge jump is an understatement. Solid on the ball defender, I’m enjoying the tenacious mindset as she battles for rebounds as well as loose balls but I’m also enjoying her finishing strongly off the dribble as well as her jumper
2027
Serenah Coleman- 5’5 (SETX)
Coleman has my initials, I told her to let me see what you got and in the open court she left a defender cemented with a spin so I kind of knew what was coming because the spin was fluid yet she also did a good job of handling the ball under pressure as well as seeing the floor. She creates her shot to drop it from way outside or just the midrange but she also does a good job attacking the basket
Shamiah Taylor-5’7 (Tennyson MS)
Taylor was officially tagged #D1Lock after back-to-back impressive camps in a span of 3 weeks. She’s long and athletic, that will always be the base and her first step in the set can be devastating yet she also can handle the ball in the open court and add the “turbo” while being guarded. The pull-up jumper is nice, and so are her acrobatic finishes, oh yeah, she plays the passing lane very well
Maddie Vickery-6’0 (Washburn Rural)
Vickery was a more than pleasant surprise when I caught her at Border War in Arkansas yet she crossed several borders, well state lines, to get to Round Rock, and watching her “throw the rock back” several times had me smiling. She’s also long and athletic, she can drop the jumper, score around the basket as well as face it to score but she also can put it on the floor and attack, let me drop #D1Lock
Nena Alvarado-5’8 (Jackson MS)
Alvarado does everything in the flow of the game, that’s a gift and she can silently fill up a stat sheet but she also can take over in clutch situations to drop the jumper, with a hand in her face, as well as score off the dribble, with either hand. She finished after contact, she saw the floor, applied pressure on the defensive end, and has some pretty impressive upside
Jade Williams-5’7 (Baley MS)
Williams is also, drumroll please, long and athletic and when you have an explosive first step like she has, trust me, she is going to be hard to handle. She can finish acrobatically after contact, which is HUGE at this stage but what makes her even more threatening is her variety of shake and bake moves and somebody probably needs to help. Throw in mid to long-range as well as playing the passing lane and voila
