Emanating from the Upward Star Center, the Triumph Region reached its crescendo as teams from both Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky were among those who took part. Palmetto State-based Greenwood Storm 2026 claimed the 14U championship while Team Nite Nite 2024 out of Georgia was the 16U champions. Richmond Heat (Kentucky) won the 15U and 17U regions.
Speaking of the 17U division, here is our Second Team All-Tournament list from the Triumph Region Finals.
Rachel Shropshire – 2024 – Franklin County HS – Richmond Heat 2023 – Shrop drops buckets. She proved to be a major reason why Richmond Heat 2023 concluded the Triumph Region Finals with a 4-0 record and the 17U division crown. At 6-foot-2, she is one of the tallest members of the Richmond Heat 2023 roster and uses that height advantage to her and her team’s benefit. She combines that height with plenty of length and plenty of range as a shooter in addition to what she can do near the rim. She displayed all Circuit long exactly why she is one of many playing up in class on the Kentucky-based grassroots squad.
Xaniya Jackson – 2023 – Andrew Jackson HS – Lady OTOD 2023 Pink – Jackson was in action all Circuit long from the Triumph Region Kickoff in her home state of Florida to the Finals in South Carolina. After all, it is only fitting a Tiger would do well in Clemson country. At an even six feet, she is versatile as she thrives as either a four or a five near the rim. Jackson will find plenty of spacing to make plays not only as a scorer but also a rebounder. One better have crafty moves when trying to score on Jackson as effective as she is as a shot blocker. Jackson should be on the radar of many a college coach as she transitions to her swan song at Andrew Jackson.
Maya Robinson – 2023 – Middle Creek HS – Carolina All-Stars 2023 – Robinson has also excelled on this year’s Circuit – including Peach Games in Atlanta and the Finals at Spartanburg. She is a 5-foot-9 guard whose Division I offers include Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, NC Central and UNC Greensboro. Robinson is a ferocious rim attacker who can get a bit creative with how she finishes at the cup. She also will shoot from long range and is unafraid of contact that can put her at the free throw line. Robinson also combines speed and quickness with an ability to take care of the ball and limit turnovers.
Ziqueria Woolfolk – 2023 – Veterans HS – One Step Away 2023 – From Knoxville Knockout in east Tennessee to the Triumph Region Finals in South Carolina, Woolfolk has shown that she is good, folks. She can get nifty with the ball in her hands as a rim attacker and will take and make her fair share of 3-point attempts. Woolfolk can read an opposing team’s offense and use that knowledge to make plays as a defender. She also runs the floor well and can make things happen in transition. In one of her team’s matchups on Saturday, she scored 12 points in what was a commanding victory over FGC Miracle Gold 2023.
Kennedi McCray – 2023 – Pleasant Grove HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2023 – McCray will have to update her highlight reel from the many great games she had on the Circuit. She previously ran in the grassroots realm with FBC Thunder. McCray will take and make her fair share of 3-point attempts. She will also play lockdown defense and can make opposing ball-carriers incredibly prone to the turnover. McCray scored 14 points as her team opened the Triumph Region Finals with a matchup against eventual 17U champion Richmond Heat 2023. She played a huge role in the Spartans finishing 27-7 this past season.
