The core of this team has been together for a few years now and is comprised of great talent from Central Jersey and North Jersey. Let’s revisit this team and see who the new and returning faces are.
Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ – 6-1 PF, Sparta (2023)
If you have not heard us singing the praises of Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ before, now is your time to hear it because she’s one of the 10 best players in the state without a doubt. Sparta went as far as they did last season thanks in large part to the leadership of McCurry, the focal point of the team. The best part about watching her play is that she can do just about anything on the floor at 6-1. She plays like a guard on the wing, but posts up like a forward in the paint. There’s nothing like her within the state and she’s put herself into the conversation to be the best in the state.
Isabella Asencio Isabella Asencio 5'4" | PG Immaculate Heart Academy | 2023 State NJ – 5-4 PG, Immaculate Heart (2023)
Asencio has been on our radar for quite some time now and is a gifted point guard. While the biggest thing holding her back right now, unfortunately, is her height, she makes up for it with incredible athleticism and creative shot-making, for lack of a better term. Asencio has a great feel for the game and breezes by defenders in the lane for easy buckets at the basket. Her basketball instincts kick into high gear on defense, easily able to force turnovers for fast break opportunities the other way.
Maya Summerville – 6-0 PF, Morristown (2024)
Summerville is playing up an age group this summer and there’s a clear reason why when you watch her play. This is one of the most athletic shot-blockers in the state and one of the leaders in blocks per game for sure. She plays with tenacity and intensity in the middle, knowing how to utilize her body to take up space in the lane and capitalize off player mismatches 1-on-1. Her natural height advantage combined with the sheer force of her playing on defense is truly unstoppable.
Ella Kreuzer Ella Kreuzer 5'10" | SG Chatham | 2025 State NJ – 5-9 SG, Chatham (2025)
One of the top players in the 2025 class, Kreuzer has the skills to hang with just about anyone on the court right now. She’s an excellent perimeter shooter, with more than enough ability to make things happen in the lane, getting buckets and drawing contact. Her rebounding and passing are both showing great signs of improvement in the summer and her defense is already there. She’s very nearly a college-ready player going into her sophomore year, showing the maturity and poise of Kreuzer’s game right now.
Brooke Baisley – 5-10 Swing, Gill St. Bernard’s (2024)
Baisley put in some work this high school season for Gill St. Bernard’s, becoming a must-start player in the frontcourt. The most impressive thing about her is her defense as she’s really done a great job establishing herself in the post. She’s aggressive on the glass and knows how to make opponents uncomfortable, forcing bad shots, bad possessions or turnovers. Baisley has done a great job thus far at pushing the tempo in the paint on offense and the more she can dominate the post-up game, her game will progress that much more.
