Prospects have to be versatile offensively in many ways to win. More so, they provide a strong inside-out game. Below are some of the best in the area.
Kayla Nelms Kayla Nelms 6'1" | PF Miami Country Day | 2024 State FL – Miami Country Day/Miami Suns Team Fowles
Nelms might be the best inside-out scorer in the region. The 6-foot-1 forward uses her size and soft touch in the paint to score effectively. Nelms shot 53 percent from the field on her two-point field goal attempts this past season. Her athleticism and overall footwork is also effective as a face-up shooter. Nelms shot 36 percent (41-of-113) from deep as a sophomore.
Lena Girardi Lena Girardi 5'10" | SG IMG Academy | 2025 State FL – Westminster Academy/Comets (PA)
2025 Lena Girardi Lena Girardi 5'10" | SG IMG Academy | 2025 State FL recently earned an offer from Villanova University. The 6-foot wing can score from anywhere on the floor using her length and athleticism. Girardi shot 53 percent from the field on her two-point field goal attempts and 40 percent from beyond the arc. Her extension and ability to create space off the dribble is one reason for her efficiency. Girardi’s overall athleticism also makes her a tough matchup for guards or forwards.
Kalia Harrington Kalia Harrington 5'8" | SG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL – Mater Lakes/Essence
2024 Kalia Harrington Kalia Harrington 5'8" | SG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL shoots at a high percentage from anywhere on the floor. The 5-foot-8 shooting guard knocked down 41 percent of her 3-point attempts and 58 percent of her shots from inside the arc. Harrington’s athleticism allows her to create space on her shot or score off the dribble. Add in her length and smaller guards are going to have a tough time keeping her off the scoreboard.
Janessa Kelly – Blanche Ely/Team Knight 17U
Janessa Kelly is one of the top players in the Class of 2024 for a reason. The 5-foot-9 lefty shooting guard has a smooth touch around the rim through her size and footwork. Kelley also has awareness to set up on the perimeter during a drive and kick. Opponents also need to be aware of her movement without the ball. Overall, she offers many different looks as an offensive player.
Gianna Corbitt Gianna Corbitt 6'1" | SF Blanche Ely | 2024 State FL – Blanche Ely/Team Knight 16U
Gianna Corbitt Gianna Corbitt 6'1" | SF Blanche Ely | 2024 State FL is a very difficult matchup in the Class of 2024. Few prospects can match her size and athleticism on the court. The 6-foot-1 forward can move in transition and score down low. Her athleticism and fundamentals with the basketball is why she is one of the top players in South Florida. Corbitt is double-digit scorer with upside now that she is healthy.
