During the final “live” weekend of the 2022 grassroots season, All-Iowa Attack hosted their annual Summer Finale. With a number of EYBL, 3SSB, BlueStar, and other top programs, it made for an outstanding event well-attended by college coaches from across the country. While my primary coverage area is Indiana, I had the opportunity to check out a handful of non-Indiana teams throughout the event. Below is a look at a few ladies who stood out for one reason or another when I was able to see them on Sunday, July 24th.

– MaKayla had moments where she was consistent, then she had spurts where she was very fun to watch. She is long, somewhat bouncy, and quick/fast. She is always trying to make a play/shot on every catch, which puts the defense on alert. She is a good perimeter shooter when she gets her feet set, she has a quick release, and she has some range beyond the 3-point line. I also liked her aggressiveness on the ball defensively, as she was very feisty and almost annoying to opposing ball-handlers.

, 2024, 5-8 W, Minnehaha H.S. (MN), Minnesota Stars-Bjorgaard 16U
– Angel is a nice wing athlete with a lot of potential in her game. She has a fairly strong frame, she can get out and go in transition, but she also has the physical tools to battle in the half-court. She has a quick first step, she can get by most defenders and attack the basket, but she also has some touch outside and can knock down perimeter jumpers when in rhythm. Defensively, she will rebound, but she can also defend bigger guards, wings, and even some of the smaller power forwards.

, 2024, 6-2 C, Prior Lake H.S. (MN), Minnesota Stars-Bjorgaard 16U
– CeCe is a big-bodied, powerfully strong, hard-working post player. She has really nice length with her build, she does a great job of getting her hands on tough passes or offensive rebounds and figuring out angles to score it around the basket, plus she doesn’t mind contact and will clear out space quickly and aggressively on the block. I didn’t see her shoot it much facing the basket, so I can’t comment on that, but she was a tough presence in the paint defensively, altering several shots.

, 2024, 6-1 F, Waupun H.S. (WI),
Wisconsin Flight Elite
EYBL 17U
– Kayl was one of the most skilled forwards or posts inside of 15-feet I saw all weekend. She is actually built more like a wing, with a long, wiry-strong frame, but she seemed most comfortable in the mid-post or with her back to the basket. She has a variety of nice post-moves, countermoves, and a great awareness of where she is at all times. She can box out to rebound, pursue rebounds, and she is a quick second-jumper who gets a lot of “scraps” baskets. She just outworks her matchups.

, 2025, 6-2 C, North Polk H.S. (IA), Pure Prep 17U
– Playing “up” two divisions, Rebecca is definitely interesting as a prospect. She has a solid to strong frame, really nice length, and she looks like she could grow a couple of more inches. She runs the floor hard North/South, she showed solid hands on Sunday, and she has some skill, whether she is posting up with her back to the basket, or she is in the short-corners looking to shoot it. Strength is always a must with bigs, and she looks like she could eventually become overpowering.

Metro Stars

– Hope will be on a lot of lists going forward, if she isn’t already. She has really nice speed and change-of-direction ability. At her size, she covers a lot of ground and can get sideline to sideline quickly. She has a solid to strong frame, nice length, and she plays with her arms out defensively at all times. She has a really nice motor, plus she’s willing to be physical in the paint. Skillfully, she has some touch, good skill with her back to the basket, and she’s accurate shooting it in the mid-post.

EYBL 17U
– Kristina is a skillful ballplayer who plays well beyond her years with this 17U team. She has a fairly strong frame, she’s a solid North/South athlete with a motor, but she’s also skilled at all three levels. She can knock down perimeter jumpers with a little range, plus she’s willing to be physical and post smaller defenders. I really like her inside-out versatility, but I think long-term she’ll continue making her perimeter skillset better and better, becoming a full-time wing. She’s a nice, young prospect.

– Watching Brandi on Sunday, she didn’t look like she was just entering her Sophomore year of high school. She plays with great poise and a nice savvy to her game. She always has her head up, scanning the floor, but she’s also a nice athlete who can make explosive plays when defenders relax. She has a fairly strong frame, a nice first step burst, and she can get to the rim and finish. She also has some touch outside and can burn defenders who sit back. Her on-ball defense is also tough to get around.
