Uniyah Franklin Uniyah Franklin 6'1" | SF Everglades | 2023 State FL , PF, 6’2″ (South FL Runnin’ Rebels 17U) Franklin (picture above) was one of the most talented and athletic players at Battle in the Boro. She has a nice jumper and can shoot it from behind the arc and also in the midrange area. The most impressive move I witnessed was from the left wing. She puts a move on a defender with and in and out crossover dribble move and gets to the basket, elevates with a high vertical jump and finger rolls with the right hand. That move alone was worth the 12 hour drive to Louisville. Defensively Franklin matched up against guards on the perimeter and mixed it up in the paint with the bigs. Franklin was also tough on the glass. She was relentless at tracking and going for rebounds. She had a few nice putbacks during the tournament.
Laurie Severe Laurie Severe 5'9" | PF Everglades HS | 2024 State FL , SF, 5’9″ (South FL Runnin’ Rebels 17U). Severe showed some versatility on the court, playing guaqrd and forward She has great lateral movement on the courts and showed great defense on the ball. Made a nice steal on the point guard and took it back to the other end of the court before passing it back out. Severe also made some nice passes on the court.
Kayla Kastor Kayla Kastor 5'8" | PF Creekside | 2023 State FL , PF, 6’0 (FGB Elite Ringer 17U). Kastor played with some toughness on the courts and wasn’t giving up any position in the paint. She had some nice power moves in the paint on offense and defended well on the defensive end. She also rebounded well and also dribbled out of pressure after the rebound . Kastor also showed the ability to pass the ball out of the paint as well.
Kaitlynn Weaver Kaitlynn Weaver 6'0" | SF Tocoi Creek | 2024 State FL PF 6’0″ (ECU Clarke 2024)played with a lot of versatility at Battle in the Boro. Weaver was special on the defensive end, swatting “everything” that came within her reach. Offensively Weaver had some standout moments and spearheaded a 15 point comeback with some nice finishes down the stretch. Weaver has a nice shooting touch from the outside and can knock down the three and the midrange.
Jennica Suggs Jennica Suggs 5'8" | CG Central Florida Christian Acadmey | 2024 State FL , 5’9″ SF (J Sizzles 2024). Suggs was aggressive on defense and made some great plays including a block in transation and another one inside the paint. Suggs also made a diving interception attempt on the hardwood floor. She has a motor that doesnt stop on either end of the court. Suggs communicated well on the floor and helped put teammates in the right spots on the court.
