Having discussed half of the teams included, it’s time to look at the other half, starting with Team Burgundy for the 2023 and 2024 prospects.
Ally Sweeney – Sparta (2023)
Sweeney is an immensely talented guard on one of the best programs in the state and simply put, she might be one of the most complete guards in the state. You watch her play and expect she’s going to contest for a triple-double with the skillset she has. This is easily one of the best passers in the state, one of the best shooters and one of the best defenders. Sweeney is the full package as a guard and runs the point incredibly well. Her senior season is one expected to turn heads without a doubt.
Grace Kinum – New Providence (2024)
Kinum has a very similar playing style to Sweeney, which bodes well for the rising junior, the star of the New Providence program at the moment. Where Kinum has shined most has been her defense, especially her ability to tip or block shots. Guards aren’t generally the shot-blocking type, but she stands tall and likes to challenge opponents into shots. Much of the time, it ends up working in her favor and turns into an outlet opportunity the other way. Her name might go under-the-radar playing for New Providence, but Kinum is the real deal.
Elizabeth Archer Elizabeth Archer 6'0" | SG Blair | 2024 State NJ – Oak Knoll (2023)
Archer is your traditional 3&D player with some extra sauce, some extra skills in her game that have turned her into one of the best scorers in the region. Consistency has been key with her and it’s really paid off for a player that can beat you on both sides of the basketball and has some great shooting in her game as well. Archer is a lowkey double-double prediction for us after seeing her haul in upwards of 7-8 rebounds a game. Those numbers play and those numbers shine in high school.
Demi Simpson – Teaneck (2024)
Simpson is an interesting case in the New Jersey high school girls basketball world, a defensive-minded forward that is easily one of the best defensive players in the state. You can see it while watching her, you can see it in her statistics. She’s the real deal and is damn good at holding down the post. Right now, the biggest thing we want to see out of her is that added offensive production, something else to help round out her game. If Simpson is able to get that going too, she’s going to be an absolute force to be reckoned with.
