The Orlando Splash was held July 20-22 and was loaded with talent from the state of Florida. While there was a number of talented players, here is our starting five in the class of 2024 from the Orlando Splash event!
Lester is a high-flying athlete who has quick bounce and major hops. She got into the paint at will and played off 2 feet jump stopping in the paint and elevating exceptionally well on her mid-range jump shot. Her first step is extremely explosive, and she used her athleticism and vertical to shoot over defenders and finish high at the rim.
Suggs stood out in a gym of over 1,000 athletes for her heart, energy, and her strong desire to win. She was all over the court on both ends of the floor, competing on every single possession. Her competitive spirit was very obvious just one minute into watching her. Her build and body are mature for her age and look like that of a college athlete.
Bush is a versatile wing / forward who filled up the stat sheet with points and rebounds. She has excellent size and a versatile skill set playing inside and out. Her range extended out to the 3-point line shooting a high percentage from the perimeter. She did a good job not just settling for perimeter shots, attacking the rim off the dribble and crashing the offensive glass scoring off putbacks.
Williams has been one of my favorite players for the last two years and she continued to display why she is an extremely effective player in the paint. At 6’0 she is a bit undersized but plays tough, physical, and aggressive. She is a consistent presence on both the offensive and defensive glass. She does a great job using her shoulder and her strength to score at the rim and finish vs contact.
Nelms was consistently the best player on the court playing inside and out and shooting a high percentage from three. At 6’1, Nelms mixes it up going inside and out and is not afraid to pull it from deep! Her offensive efficiency is impressive, shooting over 60% from the field and knocking down three plus 3-pointers per game!
