While it would’ve been impossible to watch all 1400 teams, I did catch quite a few teams and players throughout the tournament’s 4 day span. When I looked at my notes at the conclusion of the tournament, there were a little over 100 players that had caught my eye in some way. This series is going to discuss some of those standouts and it’ll be broken down by the division they played in (2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026) rather than the player’s class. This article features players that played in the 2026 divisions.
Maddie Vickery
Maddie Vickery
Vickery instantly caught my eye. She has excellent length and height, and she is skilled beyond her age. She crashes the boards strong and really showed her strength in her rebounding abilities. Vickery’s shot blocking skills are special as well. She’s smart and she can really jump. Offensively, she runs the floor, posts strong, catches the ball ready to shoot or make a move, and handles contact. Vickery can really put the ball in the basket on the offensive end of the floor while really disrupting the opposing team’s offense on the other end of the floor.
Payton Rollins
Payton Rollins
Rollins basketball IQ is already really high and that shines when you watch her play. She’s always thinking a play ahead, so when she catches the ball, she makes great decisions. Rollins was mixing things up and making it hard on the defense. She showed how she can shoot, distribute, and drive at a high level, especially considering the fact that she is a 2027. She has a great shot and proved that she can knock them down from anywhere on the floor. She also has a ton of ball handling skills in her arsenal and she’s quick with her moves. Rollins potential is limitless.
Zartman was simply making stuff happen for her OPS squad. She was consistently creating, scoring, and handling pressure. Zartman can shoot the ball extremely well and she has great range on her shot. She showed her ability to score at all 3 levels. She also showed that she is a high IQ player with some of her passes and the way she was making plays. She is a quick, tough guard that really plays hard 110% of the time she’s on the court.
Highlights
Hanni showed her speed and skills as she ran the point for her SSA Gameball team. She really makes it hard on the defense, consistently keeping the ball low and changing up speeds. Hanni can get into the paint, draw defense over, and find the open player. However, she can also put the ball in the basket herself and she proved that as she knocked down floaters and jump shots all tournament long.
Highlights
Anisa Tonkel
Anisa Tonkel
Tonkel was knocking down deep shots with ease. She catches ready to shoot and has a quick release. She also sees the floor really well and makes good passes to her teammates. She really showed her quickness and ball handling abilities as well. As a defender, Tonkel was really impressive. She was guarding good players and not giving them any room to get past her. She was sliding her feet so well. She also was reading the passing lanes well.
Payton Richmond
Payton Richmond
Richmond was dominating on the boards when I got to watch her play. She was a true force inside. It felt like she was grabbing every rebound off of the rim. Richmond was also posting hard and moving her defenders. Once she got the ball down low, there weren’t many players at this level that were able to match her strength. She has good moves and excellent touch around the basket. Richmond also works hard out there.
Natalie Frempong
Natalie Frempong
Frempong showed her speed and quickness all throughout the tournament. She can handle the ball and she makes great drives to the basket. Frempong has a lot of ball handling skills that she utilizes well. She can also really shoot the ball well and with a lot of consistency. She showed her ability to distribute and defend. Frempong was pressuring the defense and staying active.
