Plenty of college scouts lined the courts to check out tons of talented players. Here are some of my favorite players who laced up during the week.
Rachel Haver, Western PA Bruins 17U National (Murray), 5’7″ 2023 Shooting Guard, Oakland Catholic
Rachel played like she was playing in her last AAU tournament, which she was. She went absolutely ham and cooked everything in front of her. She is a super quick scoring guard that can also run some point. She is a strong finisher in the lane with good upper body strength and the ability to finish with both hands. She scored off one foot finishes and pro hops as well. Rachel got to the line a bunch and only need a slither of space to get her perimeter shots off. She’s a legit three level scorer and should pick up some nice offers in the coming weeks.
Sophia Nath, Western PA Bruins 17U National (Murray), 5’10” 2023 Shooting Guard, Bethel Park
Silky smooth guard who moves well without the ball and knows how to use screens effectively. Her jumper looked good from the three point area and she picked up some easy buckets cutting to the hoop and using some slashing moves off the dribble. She works hard on defense and handles the ball well.
Jessica Dornak, Potomac Valley Thunder, 6’1″ 2023 Power Forward, South Lakes High
Jessica is a rugged rebounder and post defender who finishes well around the rim. She can step out to the perimeter and knock down shots and pass out of the high post. She has good footwork and can put the ball on the floor. She will contribute right away at the next level.
Kimmya Hicks Kimmya Hicks 5'9" | CG St. Frances Academy | 2023 State MD , Team Maryland Shooting Stars, 5’9″ 2023 Shooting Guard, St. Frances Academy
Versatile guard that showed the ability to score in a variety of ways. She can run some point guard but her strength is off the ball. She will crash the boards on both ends and is a good on ball defender. She has good length and does not back away from physical play.
Olivia Liszt Olivia Liszt 5'10" | PF Mercy | 2023 State MD , Team Thrill, 5’9″ 2023 Shooting Guard, Mercy High
Olivia looked like one of the best shooters in the building. When she got open looks she made teams pay. She has a quick release and knows how to reposition herself so passers can find her. There’s always room for shooters on college rosters.
McKenna Carroll, Team Thrill, 6’0″ 2023 Power Forward, Mercy High
McKenna came up big in her team’s win over the Western PA Bruins. She showed her range by knocking down a clutch three-pointer late in the game and also scored two other big baskets. She really provided a spark to the team down the stretch. I like her touch around the basket and the way she plays with poise at all times. She has good size for the center and power forward positions and she plays strong post defense. She should have a strong senior season and secure multiple offers.
