Kyla Speights- 5’3 PG (Pro Skills 17U National) |2023|
Speights created her shot nicely under pressure and dropped the long ball consistently while being defended. Her release is quick and fluid. She also dropped the midrange and scored off the dribble, finishing strongly after contact which kept the defender guessing as she mixed it up
Rhea Zambie-5’6 SG (Team Lex 16U 3SSB) |2024|
Zambie put on one of the best shooting performances I saw at the event. One thing in particular that I loved was her ability to “catch and shoot” the ball, both from mid and long-range. She also came off the pick to drop it but she also nailed some big, well HUGE shots, in the clutch
Isabella Hammons- 5’6 SG (3T OK 16U) |2024|
Hammons has DEEP written by her name so that means she was dropping the long ball in the NBA range vicinity. She also did a good job of attacking the rim with a slight HEZ and she saw the floor
Madison Hurta Madison Hurta 5'8" | PG San Marcos Homeschool | 2024 State TX -5’7 SG (Austin Elite RFW) |2024|
Hurta always finds ways to put a HURT-AHHH on the defender. She plays within herself meaning she doesn’t force anything, that caught my eye years ago yet her poise under pressure to not only want the big shot but take and deliver always impresses me. Mid to long-range was on, and so was her defense
Parker Husky-5’5 SG (Team 10-17U) |2024|
Husky falls into so many categories including the SDM acronym which I hashtag as #sizedontmatter because she can play. I caught this organization at last season’s Border War and they had shooters galore, so she fits right in. She’s heady, creates her shot, and takes good ones, but her range was impressive
Bhret Clay Bhret Clay 5'9" | SG Hobbs | 2025 State NM – 5’9 SG (Cy Fair Elite 16U WTX) |2025|
Clay did a good job of showing her ability to knock down the outside shot multiple ways. Yes, she could square up and drop it while being defended or use a deceptive first step to get to wherever she wanted to score but in transition, I was impressed with her “catch and shoot” from both midrange and long-range
Bella Edwards Bella Edwards 5'9" Lubbock Titans | 2025 TX – 5’10 CG (WTX Premier 15U National) |2025|
Edwards falls into that “ring your Bella” category yeah I just made it up but she showed me last season she could shoot that ball. Fast forward to now, she’s gotten stronger and her range is deeper yet she kept the defender on their toes by scoring either off the dribble or dropping the mid to long-range
Madalin Marshall-5’11 SG (FAM Premier 16U 3SSB) |2025|
Marshall left a lasting first impression off the top because she played the passing lane, that’s one thing I love seeing but her pull-up jumper was one of the best at the event. She elevates strongly, that includes off the dribble where she finishes powerfully, but she can just flat out drop hots with a hand in her face. Factor in she sees the floor and voila
