This article will focus on some of the top 2023 Forwards.
Leilani Love Leilani Love 6'1" | C Albuquerque | 2023 State NM from Albuquerque High School comes into the updated 2023 rankings not just the top forward in the class, but the top players overall. After a stellar junior year campaign averaging a double-double, she received numerous accolades throughout the year. She averaged 19.3 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game last season. Leilani was selected to 2nd team all state and 1st team all district. Throughout this off-season she has been effective by playing at a high level during the Big Time Hoops Showcase and other tournaments this summer.
Gabby O’Hara Gabby O’Hara 5'5" | SF Bernalillo | 2023 State NM from Bernalillo High School is one of the most underrated players in her class and in the state. Gabby played a pivotal role in the teams state championship run a season ago. She averaged a near double-double last season posting 11.0 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. She was one of the teams more consistent players and has received interest this off-season. This past month, she was offered by the University of Southwest to play at the next level.
Ema Rose Ema Rose 5'11" | PF Gadsden | 2023 State NM from Gadsden High School was one of the top players from last season. She led Gadsden to a 16-10 record last season as the teams top player. Ema averaged an impressive 15.0 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game playing winning basketball. She ended the season as one of the states top shot blockers averaging 3.9 blocks per game. Ema has been having an impressive off season as one of the top stock risers.
Evann Segura Evann Segura 5'10" | PF Moriarty | 2023 State NM the forward from Moriarty High School had a solid junior year and will have an even better senior season. She helped Moriarty make the 4A State Tournament and reach the 4A Quarterfinals. Evann averaged almost a double-double of 13.4 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. She has had a solid off-season getting more exposure playing with her club team, the New Mexico Flash.
Maesyn Lopez Maesyn Lopez 6'0" | PF Belen | 2023 State NM from Belen High School quickly became one of the states top forwards throughout the season and that carried over into this off-season. Despite a tough season for Belen, Maesyn was the teams top player who led them in scoring and rebounding. She averaged an impressive 11.6 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. Maesyn has had a busy off-season participating in the USJN’s Premier Showcase and the PGHCircuit Dynasty Region. She has played well for New Mexico Select and has caught many scouts attention throughout the summer.
Aaliyah Nevarez Aaliyah Nevarez 5'10" | SF Highland | 2023 State NM from Highland High School had an excellent junior year helping Highland reach the 4A State Quarterfinals. She was the teams second leading scorer averaging about 10 points per game and will be the teams go to scorer next season. This off-season she has showcased her skills as an elite scorer and shooter at numerous events. Aaliyah played well during the Southwest Salsa Slam and for her club team, the New Mexico Clippers this summer.
