There are multiple players that can go on to play at the highest level, and there are multiple players that already have Division-I offers as they go into their sophomore year. The combo guards are no exception as they actually have 4 players in the top 16 rankings overall. Let’s take a look at the top CG’s in the latest 2025 rankings update.
Byars is a very high level player. She is a walking double-double that is more than capable than putting up a triple- or quadruple-double in any given game. Byars has a variety of post moves and she utilizes them so well to score in the paint or at the rim. However, she also can play on the wing with her ball handling skills and the ability to knock down outside shots consistently. Defensively, she really disrupts the opposing team’s offense and she’s such a strong rebounder. Byars had a phenomenal freshman season and has been racking up additional D-I offers all Spring and Summer, but crazy enough, I think the best is still yet to come.
I don’t care who she’s playing with, Bradley will not go unnoticed when she’s on the court. She is another high level player who can score on even the best defenders. Bradley can get into the lane or to the rim, but you better pick her up as soon as she crosses half court because she can knock down shots from deep range. Her shot is so consistent and she releases the ball quickly, so she can get her shot off even with defenders running at her. As a freshman, she actually led the state in 3-Point Field Goals per Game while shooting a stellar 44.6% from 3 (116/260). However, scoring is just one of Bradley’s strengths. She also handles the ball extremely well and is such a good passer. She defends and rebounds at an elite level as well. I expect Bradley’s Meade County squad to be among the top 3 teams in the state all season long and Bradley will play a major role in that.
Highlights
Riley is a really special player. As a 7th and 8th grader, she led Hancock County in scoring and racked up 661 total points in one and a half seasons (due to COVID-19). As a freshman last season, she led Owensboro Catholic in scoring and put up 414 total points, so she’s already surpassed the 1,000 point mark going into her sophomore year. And while she can clearly score at all 3 levels, there is so much more to her game besides her scoring ability. Riley is as unselfish as they come and she creates for her teammates so well. She can handle the ball, she sees the floor, she defends, she plays extremely hard, and her future is as bright as they come.
Rhodes outside shooting has always stood out, but she showed all Summer long that there is so much more to her game than just shooting. She can really do it all – she can handle the ball, she creates, she makes good passes, she rebounds, and she can really put the ball in the basket. Strong drives to the basket, shifty finishes, scoring through contact, creative moves to ger her shot off, and NBA range 3-pointers are all ways I watched Rhodes score time and time again. Rhodes can knock down shots with a defender running at her and she makes it look effortless. She was a top 6 outside shooter in the state as a freshman, and I expect her to break multiple 3-point records before her high school career concludes. Rhodes should be on everyone’s radar this season, especially after the phenomenal Summer she just had with her ETA Thunder 2023 Smith team.

Roberts has a ton of potential and she showed that in her freshman campaign as she led her Lexington Christian squad, as well as this Summer with her Bluegrass Girls Basketball team. Offensively, she stays involved whether that means scoring herself or creating for her teammates. She has good handles and is very poised when the ball is in her hands. Roberts has excellent shooting form and she can score off jump shots or from 3, but she can also get to the basket and draw fouls. She has good court vision as well. Roberts plays hard and will be playing a bigger role for LCA this season, so expect to see big things ahead.
