With Whitney Young being a favorite to win downstate this year. Jones’s elite talent makes her one the main focal points of the star studded team. Skylar is a Power guard. She’s strong, fast, athletic and a nightmare matchup. The Uncommitted lefty can impact the floor from all aspects. 3 level scorer, a multi position player/defender and the IQ and awareness to run a offense or play within. She’s next level built.. and next level ready. Skylar will bring an immediate boost to any program.
The intensity and focus Swanson plays with is tenacious. With her arrival to Purdue coming next year, Swanson will have one more season to put on another POY show and possibly capture a state title. This past summer she was also an invitee to the USA U18 Trials in Colorado Springs. Her offensive skillset is lengthy, and her no memory mentality is different. The flip is switched the moment Sophie takes the court, and that killer mindset is on both sides of the ball. Her size, strength and shot making will translate easily to the next level. Reminds me of a Iowa guard.. just stronger.
Her defense jumps out when watching.. because she truly loves it. She’s 94ft of ball pressure, intensity and emotion. Her speed and quickness is top tier.. and thats moving in all directions. She has that locked in attitude that screams leadership. Offensively she just gets the job done. Off the dribble, off the catch or just anyway possible. The energy of Kennise is contagious and you see it flow to her teammates. Following her senior season, Johnson will be bringing her talents to Iowa City for the Hawkeyes.
The recent Western Michigan commit checks the board when it comes to having a wide ranged skillset. Her size, patience and IQ makes her an immediate mismatch for guards. Scoring and playmaking wise she can do that all levels. Her vision and awareness of the court is what sticks out to me the most. She has quick instincts and the IQ to always make the best decision. The senior guard will definitely continue her standout summer season into her last year of high school ball.
Highlights
Coming off a strong AAU season, Newson Cole continues to show her extensive feel for the game. A her deep skillset is full of things that come natural, and you can tell the game seems to be moving in slow motion for her. At all levels she can produce, in the open court she’s fun to watch. Athletic, agile and crafty. On the opposite side of the ball, she’s a terror to deal with. She displays the same energy on both sides. With the offers still rolling in, Azyah is still catching the eyes of top division coaches.
