Quinn Grubbs Quinn Grubbs 5'5" | PG Exira EHK | 2023 State IA
The rising senior scored nearly 16 points per game as a junior and showed she could score in bunches. The 5’5 guard showed she had a good touch from the line, shooting free throws at 75%, and constantly looks for openings to get off her jumper, especially in transition. She moves well without the ball and does a good job using screens to get open away from the ball.
Johnna Rotto Johnna Rotto 6'0" | C Gilbert | 2023 State IA
I love how well Rotto defends inside the painted area. She’s a legit 6-footer and uses her length well to alter shots. Rotto does a great job staying vertical and not fouling when she gets challenged at the rim to contest without fouling the shooter. I think her skill holds value and would help some small schools, and I assume she’ll garner that interest in her senior season. That balance and ability vertically will probably lead her down the volleyball path, but I’m sure people will ask about her.
Katie Keeney Katie Keeney 5'9" | SF Carlisle | 2023 State IA
Watching Keeney shoot with confidence is something I like in a player. She doesn’t hesitate on her shot. When Keeney’s jumpers aren’t falling, teams respect her willingness to shoot the ball. When a kid forces teams to close out on her, it opens up the floor for her teammates to do a lot to find spaces to attack. That could be through cuts or other means, but the focus will shift to Keeney when she gets open space behind the 3-point line. If she’s confident and willing to shoot, she can hurt defenses solely by being herself.
Nicole Storck Nicole Storck 5'9" | PF ADM Adel | 2023 State IA
Last season Storck averaged 14 points and seven rebounds, so she found ways to affect the game whenever possible. She crashed the glass on both ends of the floor, and when she didn’t get boxed out, she’d likely get the rebound. I love the effort Storck plays with, and I believe the way the rising senior plays shows that the forward leads by example. Kids who play as hard as she does, tend to excel in the classroom and off the floor for basketball activities. She likely practices how she plays, and that’ll only make her teammates better in the long run.
