Journey Houston Journey Houston 5'11" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA
Houston led all 2025s in scoring by a relatively wide margin. She has the skill and athleticism to excel in any aspect. Her change of pace is also second to none. When she attacks off a ball screen and stops on a dime to take a floater, you can tell she’s an elite athlete. Houston also sees the floor well. She doesn’t get tunnel vision when she has the ball and maximizes possessions.
Amani Jenkins Amani Jenkins 6'2" | C Johnston | 2025 State IA
The Des Moines North forward does everything a coach would want a five to do. She owns the space around the basket, sets good screens, seals her defender when she rolls off screens, and finishes around the basket. I also like how well she takes advantage of offensive rebound opportunities. She carves out space for herself and has excellent touch around the basket. Jenkins already has a high level of consistency, which is unique for anyone her age. I love watching her operate because she understands how to exploit defenses and makes basketball look easy.
There may not be a combo guard I enjoy watching more in the 2025 class. She can score, creates for others, and does everything she can to help her team win. I love the passion she plays with and how she forces the issue to get the defense to react to her action. When she attacks in transition, she is decisive and aggressively attempts to attack the basket. Defenders either decide to let her go, foul her, or leave Crawford an open teammate to pass the ball to them in rhythm.
The Xavier wing reads the game well and can move her nearest defender without touching them. Although Fandel isn’t over athletic, she changes pace well and gets her defender on their heels. On the other end, she uses her length and vision to get into passing lanes and create live ball turnovers. Fandel can make things happen using her physical tools that don’t make sense. She can make a chase-down block in transition or a quick hesitation into a jumper. She can make something out of nothing. I have to imagine watching her play can be incredibly fun.
