The 2023s below are kids who might fly slightly under the radar but have the production to back up their names listed below.
Grace Schisel Grace Schisel 5'8" | SG New Holstein | 2023 State WI
The New Holstein guard finished tied for sixth in the state with 24.2 points per game. That number alone shows us how well she handles scoring in volume. However, there’s more to be impressed by with Schisel. She finished her junior season with splits of 42/41/94. Her shooting was out of this world last season, with all the defensive attention that her opposition could muster. She’s quick, confident, and has a high release that makes her jumper challenging to contest.
Cadence Xiong Cadence Xiong 5'1" | PG West Bend East | 2023 State WI
There aren’t many guards who I saw in AAU finish around the rim as well as Xiong. She can move her defender with a series of feints and dribble moves to get to the basket, and she can score in multiple ways around the basket when attacking paint defenders. She can pull up from ten feet, utilize her floater, or finish around tall defenders at the basket.
Brittney Mislivecek Brittney Mislivecek 5'9" | CG La Crosse Central | 2023 State WI
Few kids who can flip a game on its head in two game minutes, and Mislivecek is on that list. She’s athletic and can create simple scoring opportunities by jumping passing lanes or maximizing other transition opportunities. Her jumper is also solid. The Junior takes her shots at the top of her jump and has found a lot of consistency. I believe she has room to improve in that aspect, but her overall game still has room to improve. If she continues her playing career at the next level, she could become a high-level player at a small school.
Katherine Miller Katherine Miller 5'9" | PG Elkhart Lake - Glenbeulah | 2023 State WI
I like how Miller shoots the ball because she releases her shot on the way up. That means that it takes less effort to get her jumper up and makes me think if she adds strength at the next level, her jumper could become excellent. Her 3-point % is already at 37%, and I’m confident it can still go up significantly. Miller has good scoring instincts and understands where she excels on the floor. She could be a steal, depending on where she ends up. I expect small schools to take a hard look at her relatively soon.
