The excitement surrounding the game and atmosphere was unmatched. Here are some of the guards that stood out on Saturday at Lake Point.
McDonald impressed on the day with her ability to never give up on the play. A player that will get you all the 50/50 balls and create extra possessions with her nack for the ball. She plays with so much energy and it not afraid to get up and pressure her opponents 94 ft. She applies pressure from start to finish and knows how to convert turnovers into scoring opportunities. One thing that stood out on the day was how excited she was to play defense. A player that lets her defense fuel her offense.
McCall is a true scorer that can score from anywhere on the court. A that can score at all 3 levels and keeps her defenders on their heels with her ability to get to the basket quickly. She is not afraid to crash the offensive and defensive glass. Knows how to finish through contact. Her ability to score in traffic led to a lot of trips to the free throw line where she was automatic. A player that will be on the watchlist this upcoming season.
Highlights

Her ability to see the whole court and read the defense is her key attribute. A player that can get to the basket at any given time and can also knock down the 3 ball. When her team needed a basket, she was clutch. High IQ guard that plays with a lot of intensity.
Cooper is a game changer that can do it all. Her energy and excitement she brings to every possession down the court is uncanny. A player that can score at all 3 levels and also play tough defense. Her ability to get 0ut in transition was key to get some easy scoring opportunities in the paint. A player that knows to get to her spot quickly to get off the 3 ball. A consistent 3-point shooter that makes it tough to figure out her next move. Look for her to play a key role for Woodward this season.
Jackson is such an exciting player to watch. Her ability to get to the basket in transition is her key attribute. Her ball handling skills was top notch which allowed her to blow by her defenders on the perimeter and get to the rim. When the drive was taken away, she had the ability to pull up for the short jumper. A player that can take over the game but loves to get her teammates involved. Excited to see her play in the backcourt for Hillgrove this upcoming season.
