O’Gorman – State Champions
O’Gorman has key losses in star guard Ronsiek and inside presence in Friedman. They do bring back a good core of prospects that should allow them to contend for back-to-back championships. They will have a stud D1 guard in Mahli Abdouch Mahli Abdouch 5'7" | PG O'Gorman | 2024 State SD that will be the leader and top scorer for the team.
O’Gorman loses a big-time talent in Ronsiek, opening up nearly 20 points/game. Mahli should take on a larger scoring role for her team. She was around 13 points/game last season and expect that number to climb 4-5 points. O’Gorman’s best prospect should contend to be an All-State player. I have her now as the #3 prospect in the 2024 class.
PGH Dakotas is high on this upside prospect. She was a vital part to the team’s success as a starter. She’s a breakout candidate in AA. Kira has great length at 6’1 with solid athleticism and movement. Though she won’t put in 20 points/game, look for Kira to put up solid overall numbers in her Senior season.
The stud volleyball player is also a very talented basketball player, that was crucial to O’Gorman winning a state championship. Defends with length and can get off the ground a rebound at a high level.
Lucy will be a key guard for O’Gorman going forward. Doesn’t possess elite traits but is a very smart guard on both ends. She defends with positioning and takes care of the ball.
Clare is a wing with good size, length, and movement. She should receive more varsity minutes in the upcoming season. It’s still hard to say on how many minutes, with Mentele and Reilly still there.
A high-upside prospect standing at 6’2 with crazy length. Haven’t seen her a ton but she may finally step into some more varsity action as well. Someone that is high on my list to monitor this season.
Rapid City Stevens
Stevens will be losing three key players for to graduation. Key players in McNabb, Sobczak, and Matkins are all off to play college ball and will be tough to replace. It’s hard to envision them making such a great run at the state title again.
Taaliyah is a prospect that will be rising in the 2025 rankings. She can literally do a little bit of everything on the court. A legit defender that will get after it. A big guard that can handle the point at the high school level. Is a playmaker with the ball in her possession. I actually now have her at #6 in the 2025 class.
Highlights
Macey is a heck of an athlete. She has solid size and length for a guard spot. Can get hot from three. Her offensive game will expand, especially being one of the go-to players.
Brittany is a smaller guard with a slender frame but she has varsity experience and is a young prospect that will only be a Sophomore. I have her stepping into the starting point guard role for Stevens.
Sioux Falls Jefferson
Jefferson had a strong showing in the AA tournament, upsetting #1 Sioux Falls Washington. They have most of their core coming back, with loses of Hayes and Whiting. They have a senior-leader point guard with college offers and a D1 commit returning.
Jaidyn is an SDSU commit and a top prospect in the 2024 class. She had a great state tournament, especially rebounding the ball.
Cierra is the go-to guard and will most likely lead the team in scoring. A smooth and talented lefty that can make things happen with the ball as the point guard.
The 6’1 prospect came off the bench for Jefferson. I do believe that she’s a college prospect at the NAIA/JUCO level. Good length and moves well.
Brandon Valley
Brandon Valley graduated their starting point guard Foss and Mount Marty commit Thue. But the good news is that Hilary Behrens Hilary Behrens 6'1" | SG Brandon Valley | 2023 State SD is back and ready for a major Senior season.
Like I said, Hilary is going to have some eye-popping numbers across the board — especially scoring. She’s a two-way D1 prospect with length and instincts.
Madison is a big presence and a prospect to watch this season. Great overall size at 6’1.
Van Ruler is another up-and-comer to watch. Played with Pentagon Schoolers this offseason and stood out with athleticism and physicality.
