Continue ReadingThe Class of 2025 is one of the most talented classes this state has seen, but the class following them is also full of talent. These 2026 players just began their freshman year of high school, but they will look to make an instant impact in the 7th Region by the time basketball season rolls around. Let’s take a look at some of the top 2026 players to watch for this year.
The long, athletic, and versatile guard has already gotten used to the big stage. She has been dominating on the Varsity level since she was a 7th grader. Last year, Wilkins averaged 25.1 PPG for Eastern as an 8th grader. She was the 3rd leading scorer in the entire state last season despite not even being in high school yet. I actually wrote about Wilkins earlier in the week after she was named the rising 9th grade MVP at the Battle of the Bridges event last weekend, but I wanted to include her in this article as well as she will certainly be a top 2026 not only in the region, but across the state.
Cummins is a high motor, impact player. On the offensive end of the floor, she can create, deliver perfect passes, and put the ball in the basket. She’s crafty and has so many different moves in her arsenal. Cummins floor vision sticks out, as does her ability to handle the ball with pressure. Once she gets the ball, she has a knack for instantly getting a step on her defender. She is so shifty in the paint and at the rim, so Cummins can get her shot off in a variety of ways and she uses both hands to finish. Defensively, she also impacts the game a lot. She reads the passing lanes to come up with steals and she is an impressive shot blocker down low. Cummins makes it impossible to not notice her when you watch her play.
James is another player that has already proven herself at the Varsity level despite only being a middle schooler when she did so. Then she turned around and continued dominating in her AAU season over the Summer despite playing up in the 17U division. So, she is clearly a special player. In fact, she averaged 24.1 PPG for Jtown last season as an 8th grader. James’ shot selection and IQ is off the charts. I mean if this helps explain how smart she is, she shot 60.7% overall and nearly 40% from 3 as a lead guard. She can get to the rim on anyone. She is so shifty around the basket and she really finishes well. James has one of the meanest crossovers, but her overall ball handling skills are phenomenal. Despite being an elite 3-level scorer, James is quick to create for her teammates. She makes great passes through traffic and she excels just as much on the defensive end of the floor as she does offensively.

DeCamillis is a floor general with good instincts. Defensively, she can really disrupt an offense. She has a knack for the ball and when she goes after it, there’s not much that can stop her from coming up with the steal. And if she doesn’t see the opportunity to take the ball, she plays really solid defense, sliding her feet and limiting opportunities for the offense to score. Offensively, DeCamillis is a 3-level scorer with strong handles. Her passing abilities are another strength and she’s definitely willing to give up a good shot for herself in order to create a great shot for her teammates. She uses fakes and her high IQ to finish around the basket. She also has a quick release that she uses to knock down shots off of the catch and the dribble. DeCamillis plays hard and should continue to excel at the high school level.

Moore can score inside or out. She has a good shot with a high release and that release makes it hard for the defense to block her shot. When she catches the ball, she catches ready to shoot and she can get her shot off quickly. Moore has the ability to finish on both sides of the rim and she does a great job using her body to keep the defense on the inside of her. She has excellent hands and the ability to catch any pass thrown in her vicinity, even if it is not necessarily a good pass. Moore also uses her long frame to excel on the defensive end of the floor and on the boards. With her ability to play inside or out, she has the potential to play a big role for the Centurions this year.
Honorable Mention
I have heard good things about the following players, but I have not personally seen them play, so I couldn’t analyze their game which is the only reason they are on the honorable mention list rather than being discussed above.
