Eliana Sheplee Eliana Sheplee 5'10" | SG Rice Lake | 2024 State WI
I’ve said it countless times before, but I believe that Sheplee is the best pure athlete this state has at the prep level. She excels at three sports at a high level, and it’s easy to understand when you watch her play. Her explosiveness aids her in grabbing rebounds above a crowd, flying into passing lanes when she’s nearly two passes away from her assignment, and covering more ground than almost anyone in her age group possibly could.
Alexa Kinas Alexa Kinas 5'8" | CG Kaukauna | 2024 State WI
The Kaukauna guard changes her speed and direction at an elite level. I don’t know if anyone is as threatening standing still as Kinas. I’m not sure how she does it, but she’s quick enough to get past her initial defender before they take two steps to try and impede her attack on the basket. What makes her even more irritating to defend is she can get her shot off quickly. You have to decide if you want to take her airspace away, risking her flying past you, or sag off and risk an over 40% 3-point shooter getting hot.
Mary Stroebel Mary Stroebel 5'8" | SG Cedarburg | 2024 State WI
Watching Stroebel take her jumper, it’s easy to see how athletic she is. She explodes off the ground and makes it challenging to contest her shot. The rising junior is smart and finds ways to make the most of her physical gifts in transition and halfcourt offense. She’s a scholarship-level talent, and Stroebel has the touch on her jumper to potentially make it elite. Defensively, she can stay in front of almost anyone, some kids move differently than their peers, and that’s what Stroebel does.
Lydia Aalsma Lydia Aalsma 5'10" | SG Waupun | 2025 State WI
At the high school level, the youngest Aalsma is an unknown quantity only because she hasn’t had an extensive role at Waupun. However, that will change this season. That said, you don’t find 5-foot-10 natural combo guards who can create their shot off the dribble, move off the ball, shoot at a high level, and see the floor well. She already has the pedigree of winning a state title as a role player, but I can’t wait to see what she does with a leading role in the Warriors’ title defense this season.
