The area produces Division 1 talent every year. On this list you’ll find a good mixture of young and old talent. These five kids will all help their respective programs to wins and possibly state championships. Here’s a look at the 2022 Preseason All- Lake Charles Area Team!
Sienna, the youngest on the list and one of those kids from a small Louisiana school could play at any school in the state! With a mature game, Sienna had a solid summer and recently picked up a Division 1 offer from Nicholls State! She can shoot with the best of them and has a decent handle. Look for her to play a major role in Hathaway’s success in Non Select Division IV.
No surprise here, the kid just wins! A natural born leader who can pretty much do all things possible on the court. Paris is an excellent two-way player that can turn defense to offense or just simply go get a bucket when she wants to. She’s ranked 3rd in our 2023 class. Her name has been known in the Lake Charles area for quite some time and this year it’ll be the same. With multiple Division 1 offers look for Paris to have another All State season.
Mikaylah, also known as the stat sheet stuffer, is also a ULM commit that can get to any spot on the floor and finish in a variety of ways. A bonified three level scorer with good court vision and a shifty handle. She has the body to play multiple positions. She rebounds well from the guard spot. Look for Mikaylah and her loaded Barbe team. A team with a roster that can make a deep run in this years LHSAA playoffs lead by Manley!
This 5’6 PG is probably one of the states best kept secrets in the class of 2024 in the Lake Charles area of small schools. The unquestioned leader of her Hamilton Christian’s team, McKenzie has a dynamic handle that allows her to create space and score in bunches which may lead her to being the areas leading scorer. After having a solid summer playing 17u, Deville showed she could play with some of the best in the country. Hopefully that play carries over into her high school season where she looks to lead her Hamilton Christian team past the 1st round of the playoffs!
The most physically gifted players out of our Lake Charles area Preseason 1st team selectees, is Miss Walker. She can change a game simply with her defensive tenacity. Physically built like a free safety, she uses her strength to get by people offensively and bully people defensively. As a senior this year, she will need to score the ball at a high clip for the Lady Gators to keep having the success of years past. She’s a leader who’s taken on the attitude of her Head Coach, Lakeem Holmes. There’s no doubt that Ala’jsa will be a late steal for whatever next level school that chooses to give her a chance
