Continue ReadingThe North Dakota 2023 class update has some movement. We’ll examine the select few that have been raising their stocks’ either through their offseason play, or PGH Dakotas simply learning more about them and their performance at the high school level. We’ll pinpoint the seven that rose their stock the most, not just by ranking but with their playing performance and improvement themselves as players and prospects in the eyes of college coaches. As a whole, this class is very deep and those in the top 70 or so need to be taken seriously as prospects that can compete at the next level in some capacity.
#19 Natalie Decoteau Natalie Decoteau 5'10" | SG St. John | 2023 State ND – 5’10 G 2023 – St. John – Natalie is finally getting the respect she deserves coming in at #19 overall in the class. Such a skilled overall guard that can score, rebound, and is a spectacular passing guard. She has an announced offer from JUCO Lake Region, and in my opinion, they would be getting a steal and an impactful guard. She scored 20.0 ppg. and rebounded at a high level as well at 10.4 per game. I can’t find any glaring weaknesses in her game.
#24 Arden Faulkner Arden Faulkner 5'10" | SG Fargo North | 2023 State ND – 5’9 G 2023 – Fargo North – Arden’s gym-rat mentality and approach is starting to pay dividends, with her coming in at a respectable #24 overall in a legitimate class. She has improved every year and her statistical numbers say the same. She made 44 threes and averaged 13.5 ppg. last season. She’ll be one to watch to see if her stock can rise even more.
#30 Emily Ash Emily Ash 5'6" | PG Dickinson | 2023 State ND – 5’6 PG 2023 – Dickinson – Emily is the biggest stock-riser in this update, as she jumps up to #30 overall. With Hauck graduating and leaving 15.2 ppg. behind here, I expect Emily’s scoring numbers to climb significantly from her 9.1 average a season ago. She was an aggressive threat this offseason for Missouri River Elite, putting up some solid scoring numbers from the point guard spot. She could be a surprise top 15 scorer in the WDA by my prediction. 15+ points per game is feasible for her if she continues that aggressive offensive behavior.
#39 Ella Jensen Ella Jensen 5'5" | CG Hettinger-Scranton | 2023 ND – 5’5 G 2023 – Hettinger/Scranton – It has been some time since I’ve seen Hettinger/Scranton, but Ella’s quickness first comes to mind. A solid ball-handler that can create plays off the dribble for her team. She’s one I will be watching a little more closely in her final season. A true playmaker on the court, with her quickness giving her an advantage over her peers.
#42 Charli Mcquillan Charli Mcquillan 5'6" | CG Kindred | 2023 State ND – 5’6 G 2023 – Kindred – Charli was one of the most improved players in the state last season for Kindred. Even getting playing time on that team makes a player a respectable prospect, and Charli did more than just step on the court. I don’t have official numbers, but I believe she was in the 10 ppg. range last season and was clutch in big games. She’ll take on a major role in her Senior season and could also put up some surprising statistical numbers. I wouldn’t be surprised if she raises her stock further.
#61 Madison Melin Madison Melin 5'9" | SG Kenmare | 2023 State ND – 5’9 G 2023 – Kenmare – Madison gets my vote for most for the most underrated prospect in North Dakota. Right now, we have a conservative ranking with her, with her coming in at the #61. She has a well-rounded skill set and is one of the best three-point shooters no one knows about. A sniper from three with a good and consistent release. Her ranking could be even adjusted further up the board, and I firmly believe she could step on the court at the D3/NAIA level under good circumstances.
#72 Reagan Teske Reagan Teske 5'9" | SG Edgeley /Kulm/Montepelier | 2023 State ND – 5’9 G 2023 Edgeley/Kulm/Montepelier – Reagan is a lot like Melin in her ability as a shooter with solid size at 5’9 and her being overlooked because of the other prospects around her on EKM as well. Has good movement, size, and three-point ability.
