This area is an area filled with small school talent and has produced plenty of state championship teams over the years. On this list you’ll find a good mixture of young and old talent. These five kids will all help their respective programs to wins and possibly state championships. Here’s a look at the 2022 Preseason All- Alexandria Area Team!
The class 1a state championship game MVP is back for the Lady Gators and looking to lead them to a repeat! Allen is easily the best big in Central Louisiana and has a body that helps her create a lot of space on the block and punish defenders. Solid with her back to the basket and handles well enough to get to the rim from 17ft, and also will face you up and take you off the bounce. A great rebounder in and out of her area who runs the floor well. The class of 2023 post should be seeing many low major D1 looks in her very near future.
So we will have a Louisiana Prep Girls Hoops player of the year for each graduating class named at the end of the season and Taylor will be a front runner for the 2026 class. The small but dynamite Pg from Js Clark high can flat out get it done. The lefty can beat you off the bounce with a shifty handle and a float game that’s unmatched. Being able to see her over the last few summers Taylor is always adding something new to her game lately I’ve been impressed with her ability to play at two different speeds she’s no longer going a 100 mph all the time. One of the better guards in a guard filled Alexandria area look for “Little T” to lead her Lady Bulldogs club to a deep playoff run!
Another kid representing for the small schools in the Alexandria area, when you think Alexis you think versatile! Avg 17.0 ppg and leading the Lady Rams to the LHSAA top 28 (Final Four). Alexis is A kid who’s most comfortable on the block but has the potential to step out and be a big guard that was evident seeing her in July getting some run in with the Louisiana United 2024 team. Alexis made 3 balls and is a way above average post defender! Once she gets confidence in her handle and another summer being seen playing Summer ball I can see Alexis recruitment taking off!
A big guard standing at 5’10 Akeelah has a great feel for the game with a solid handle and a nice stroke on her jumper. The sophomore guard will be a big part of any success that Natchitoches Central will have this season. A kid with a D1 body and next level skill set I look for her to send waves throughout the state this year and possibly lead the Alexandria area in scoring while she’s leading the lady Chiefs!
Highlights
Sometimes a Pg is simply defined by their ability to lead! The defending state champion Pg has done just that the times I seen her this summer. The lead guard is heading into her Junior season for the defending state champs, Northwood-Lena Lady Gators who are loaded with talent but the team will go as Rhianna goes. If she wanted to she could easily avg 20ppg or more but she’s so good at breaking down the defense and making things easy for her teammates. After this all – state season, yes that’s my prediction for her, her recruitment should start to pick up.
