This area is an area filled with plenty of big school talent and has produced plenty of state championship teams over the years like Benton and Captain Shreve on the big school side and coming into this season this area maybe the most talented area in the state along with the Lafayette area. On this list you’ll find a good mixture of young and old talent just like the rest of the state, picking 5 kids wasn’t an easy task in the Shreveport area. These five kids will all help their respective programs to wins and possibly state championships. Here’s a look at the 2022 Preseason All- Shreveport Area Team!
No brainer here with the states number 1 player in the 2023 class and the states only nationally ranked player in Williams who’s also an LSU Commit, reigning Louisiana girls basketball Gatorade player of the year and not to mention a multi time Gold medalist for Team USA Basketball. So what else is there for her to do one might ask? Go win a state championship that’s about the only thing as a basketball player she hasn’t done. Coming off of a 1st team all-state performance as a junior Mikaylah is back and should lead her loaded Parkway Lady Panthers squad back to a state title game this year! Will she get that state tittle? Stay tuned!
If Mikaylah Williams Mikaylah Williams 6’0″ | CG Parkway | 2023 State LA is Batman then Chloe Larry Chloe Larry 5’7″ | PG Parkway | 2024 State LA is Robin. The 1st team All District, 5a All – State honerable mention and Shreveport Times Female Athlete of the year is primed for a big junior campaign. Holding a few D1 offers Chloe can hurt you in a variety of different ways on the court, the lefty has a beautiful stroke from deep and knocks the long ball down with ease and consistency and has a handle that allows her to get to the cup and finish. But what I love about her game the most is how she sits down and defends easily one of the best on ball defenders in this state. Take all that and add it to what Miss Williams brings to the table and that makes Parkway high a tough team to beat!
The Northwestern State signee in Frierson is back and ready to lead her Southwood squad to a deep playoff run. Coming off of a great summer were she finally got the attention she’s well deserved from college programs Frierson will be one of those kids who gets double figures night in and night out and shell have to in order for her team to have success. Our 5th ranked player in our 2023 class has all the tools to have a All – State type of year!
The 6’1 Sampson from Gibsland – Coleman high burst on the scene as a freshman avg 22.0 ppg and earning 1st team All-State honors in class C. The small school representor on this list could go to any big school and fit rite in. Long and athletic Samora has a D1 frame and im currious to see how her game grows over the next couple of years! Look for her to lead her GC squad on another deep playoff run this year.
While she hasn’t played a high school basketball game yet for the Huntington High Lady Raiders Kyndal is well known in our state and around the southern region. The small in stature pure Point Guards game is mature well beyond her years as she can be a table setter for her teammates putting them in position to eat or she can be your go to scorer if need be with a crafty handle and jumper to go along with it there’s not much she cant do offensively. I’m curios to see how she fits in with the rest of the guards who will be representing Rasberry Lane this season and looking to make a run at a state tittle.
