It has been showcase season this fall in Florida with individual showcases all throughout the state every weekend, the ENG Power 80 Showcase wrapped up the showcase circuit moving the date from early October to late October due to Hurricane Ian. With over 60 players in attendance, individuals were divided into 8 teams and played 3 games each. Here are the player of the games voted on by the teams coach.
Game 1 / Court 1
Danigzy Mantilla Danigzy Mantilla 5’5″ | PG St Cloud | 2024 State FL (St. Cloud HS) – 5’5 PG – Class of 2024
Strong, stocky point guard that is deceptively quick. Mantilla has great anticipation skills on defense baiting opponents to make passes and running through passing lanes for steals. She consistently wants to play up-tempo, looking to push the ball aggressively and gives ball up freely to open teammates. In my opinion based on performance, she was the top point guard at the showcase. I love her court presence and energy and how consistent she performs every time. She is a low maintenance player that is very coachable, a natural leader, and an extension of the coach on the floor. She was the only player to win two player of the games, as she also was nominated as the top performer in game # 5 on court # 1.
Jayda Centeno
Jayda Centeno
Game 1 / Court 2
Jayda Centeno (Spruce Creek) – 5’2 Point Guard – Class of 2023
Centeno is a high-level communicator who plays hard and with a ton of energy. She is a floor general on the court with solid handle, motivates her teammates, and does all the little things. She is a competitor who plays hard every possession and makes good decisions with the ball in her hands, has a good assist to turnover ratio, and knocks down open shots.
Game 2 / Court 1
Katie Drozd Katie Drozd 6’0″ | SG Hastings | 2024 NY (Hastings on Hudson) – 6’0 Guard/Wing – Class of 2024 *NY
Drozd is a highly skilled wing player who shoots a high percentage from the field and is very efficient on offensive end of floor. She is a big perimeter player, with a sweet stroke, and her high release and height allow her to shoot over defenders. She was the top 3-point shooter at the showcase. She is from New York and wants to play college basketball in Florida.
Game 2 / Court 2
Danika Ballard Danika Ballard 5’10” | SG Boone | 2024 State FL (Boone HS) – 5’9 Combo Guard – Class of 2024
Ballard flew under the radar for me silently impacting the game on both ends for team # 7. The 5’9 combo guard shared ball handling responsibilities with Nina Green Nina Green 5’6″ | PG Wharton | 2024 State FL proving to be equally effective with the ball in her hands and off the ball. She has a quick first step, good handle, and can knock down the open shot both off the dribble and catch and shoot situations. In a showcase situation where most of the focus was on offense, Ballard showed a willingness to guard the ball which stood out amongst 60+ individuals.
Game 3 / Court 1
Jordan Race Jordan Race 5’11” | SF King’s Academy | 2023 State FL (King’s Academy) – 5’11 Wing – Class of 2023
Race is a big guard/wing with 3-point range. She has a good skill level, solid overall offensive game, has a high IQ and has good court vision. In game # 3, she was effective on the offensive end in all phases, finding open players, knocking down open shots, handling the ball, and attacking the rim.
Game 3 / Court 2
Marissa Cloud Marissa Cloud 5’3″ | PG Holy Trinity | 2023 State FL (Holy Trinity) – 5’3 Guard – Class of 2023
Cloud is a very unselfish, fundamentally sound, high IQ point guard with great court vision and willingly gives ball up to open teammates, leading them for easy baskets or creating penetrate and kick opportunities for wide open shots. She is always one of my favorite players to watch, with her low maintenance attitude on the court. Do not let her fool you, she is a competitor that goes to work every game and brings consistent effort and good energy to her team.
Game 4 / Court 1
Nina Green Nina Green 5’6″ | PG Wharton | 2024 State FL (Brooks DeBartolo) – 5’6 Point Guard – Class of 2024
Nina Green Nina Green 5’6″ | PG Wharton | 2024 State FL is a pesky player on both ends of the court, who is consistently around the ball and improves her offensive skill set each time I see her play. She has a long, athletic build with a long wingspan. She has a high motor and gets after it equally on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. She is not afraid to get after it on the defensive end, applying aggressive ball pressure and stepping into passing lanes. Green does a good job attacking off the bounce both in the half court and in transition and gets into the paint, scoring at the rim or creating easy shots for her teammates.
Game 4 / Court 2
Asiana Britt Asiana Britt 5’7″ | CG DME Academy | 2023 State FL (DME Academy) – 5’8 Guard – Class of 2023
Britt is a big, strong aggressive guard that is a playmaker on the offensive end. She can knock down 3s, attack in transition, as well as put the ball to the floor in the half court and go by her defender in 1v1 situations. Her strong build and broad shoulders allow her to get into the paint and draw contact, getting to the 3-point line and having opportunities for 3-point plays. Not just a penetrator, she is a capable 3-point shooter who knocks down 3s in catch and shoot situations from the wing and top of the key.
Game 5 / Court 2
Janessa Williams Janessa Williams 5’10” | SF King’s Academy | 2023 State FL (King’s Academy) – 5’8 Forward – Class of 2023
Williams is always one of my favorites to watch. She consistently puts her hard hard on every time she steps on the court and goes to work. She is an aggressive, competitive player who plays mad and I love it! Williams is going to play 100% whether her team is up 30 or down 30 and whether she is playing well or poorly. She brings it every single time and is constantly around the ball on both ends of the floor. Has ability to step out and knock down the open 3 and is very active on both the offensive and defensive glass. Score, rebound, defend, cheer on her team, knock down open shots, dive on the floor – Williams does it all and is fun to watch play!
Alindria Dudley
Alindria Dudley
Game 6 / Court 1
Alindria Dudley (Camden HS) – 5’6 Guard – Class of 2023 *GA
Dudley was one of top athletes at showcase. Out of Georgia, she is a athletic combo guard who is very explosive with a quick first step. In 5v5 play, she consistently got to the rim, attacking off the dribble in the half court as well as in the open court. Her combination of athleticism, explosiveness, and 1v1 moves stood out in this showcase format!
KyrstinWolff
KyrstinWolff
Game 6 / Court 2Kyrstin Wolff (Bloomingdale) – 6’2 Forward – Class of 2023
Wolff is an inside / out post with good height and versatility at 5’11. In the 5v5 games, Wolff showed the ability to step out to 15 feet and beyond and knock down the open shot. She is highly skilled and fits in a 5 out and a 4 out 1 in offensive system. She was at her best playing face up and knocking down the perimeter shot or putting the ball to the floor 1-2 dribbles and attacking the rim. She shoots very high percentage and is very efficient on offensive end of floor.
