Brandy is a consistent jump shooter from the wings and the corners who is willing to do all of the dirty work on the court to help her team find success. She racks up rebounds for her team at the guard position, and is willing to fight on the interior and dominate her opponent’s with her ability to beat them for positioning. She is very aware of where she should be on the court and does well at moving without the ball and finding space along the three point line. She is a willing cutter who runs from corner to corner and operates well around the arc. Brandy’s consistency is a real weapon for her, and teams know they have to game plan for her to cut off her shot making abilities.
#9 Crislyn Rose Crislyn Rose 5'5" | PG Sasche | 2023 State 2023 5’5 Sachse High School
Crislyn is the ideal three and d type player who can inintiate offense for her team, or play off the ball and dominate with her ability to catch and shoot and quickly knock down shots from all over the arc. She has the ability to get hot at a moment’s notice, and is really successful handling the ball and putting pressure on the defense. Where she really stands out is on the defensive end of things, scrapping and stealing the ball from her opponent’s whenever she can. Her active hands are a real weapon for her as she ties up ball handlers or pokes the ball free and forces it to bounce off them! Her tenacity and ability to move her feet is a real weapon for her on the defensive end of the floor, and it allows her team to full court press teams all night long.
#8 Janiah Allen Janiah Allen 5'10" | SF Denton Ryan | 2023 State -Taylor 2023 5’10 Denton Ryan High School
Janiah is a complete weapon on both ends of the court, who also gets it done in the classroom, boasting a 5.0 GPA! Her length is a dominant weapon for herself, but she is even a more impressive play maker and how well she handles the ball at her size. She can bully you with her back to the basket and get two feet in the paint to finish strongly at the rim, but has a modern game as well, handling the ball and shifting her opponent and scoring from all three levels of the court. I loved watching her attack the rim and then calmly rise up from the mid range after her opponent is on their heals to take away the rim. She has great on court awareness, understanding space and attacking weak defenders off the bounce. Her size is a real weapon for her but the blend of skill and awareness and ability to shoot the ball from all three levels is an elite weapon.
#7 Tristen Taylor Tristen Taylor 5'4" | PG Duncanville | 2023 State 2023 5’3 Duncanville High School
Tristen is a high level scorer from beyond the arc, using her blend of quickness and skill to get anywhere she wants on the court. She uses it as a real weapon on the defensive end of the court, sneaking behind her opponent to poke the ball free from the ball handler. I was very impressed by her aggressiveness and how well she is able to cause havoc as an undersized guard. She is constantly getting under her opponent’s skin by harassing them all 94 feet up and down the court, coming up with steal after steal within the half court. Her ability to end defensive possessions allows her team to have success on the fast break, and her pinpoint passes to jump start them is at a very high level.
#6 Kylie Marshall Kylie Marshall 5'9" | CG Mansfield Lake Ridge | 2023 State 2023 5’9 Mansfield Lake Ridge High School
Kylie is a crafty point guard with an extremely tight handle and a natural shiftiness to her game. Her blend of head and shoulder fakes makes her crossovers that much more effective. I was very impressed by how well she was able to spin out of traffic and get to the rim. She seemed to always find space every time down the court, both on the break and within the half court. She uses head fakes and post moves to bully her opponent’s with her frame at the guard position but more importantly her mind. She understands spacing, knows when a help defender is able to come over in time to flick a quick scooping shot up. The way she thinks the game is at an elite level already, a clear indication that she should be able to transition to the next level and play positions 103 if necessary.
