#5 Loghan Johnson Loghan Johnson 5'8" | CG Tompkins | 2023 State TX 2023 5’8 Katy Tompkins High School
Loghan is an elite scorer, a willing defender and a fierce competitor. The 4 star prospect by ESPN can flat out score it from beyond the arc, use her frame to punish you at the rim in transition and always seems to be slipping behind her defender. Her awareness off the ball is at an elite level, calmly using her basketball IQ to find space or backdoor cut and finish at the rim. I loved how “slippery” she seemed to be, no one can stay in front of her with a live dribble, due to the threat to score it with ease across all three levels. It is no doubt that Johnson is one of the top prospects in the country, and is sure to make her college team that more dynamic offensively! Loghan Johnson Loghan Johnson 5'8" | CG Tompkins | 2023 State TX is announcing her commitment this Monday, so be sure to tune in for that! She is reportedly between Texas Tech, Alabama, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt!
#4 RyLee Grays RyLee Grays 6'3" | PF The Village School | 2023 State #17 Nation TX 2023 6’3 The Village School
Rylee is an ELITE rebounder, with a non stop motor and a nose to snatch the ball off the glass. She consistently high points the ball and snatches it from her opponent’s grasp. It is not hard to see that the University of North Carolina has a STUD prospect on their hands. Her long legs allow her to beat opposing bigs up the floor, showing off her skills as a rim runner and a great finisher at full speed. She showed off all of the necessary skills to step in and be an instant contributor, playing out of the high post and dominating on the interior. She calmly destroys her opponent’s with jab steps and explodes out of the triple threat to turn the corner on her opponent. I was blown away with her overall foot speed at her size, and how agile she was, even with a live dribble. She showed an ability to be the focal point of her team’s offense, or play off the ball and just affect the game through her defensive intensity and high level rebounding ability.
#3 Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TX 2023 5’7 Little Elm
Amarachi is an elite point guard who can shift any opponent in front of her, turn the corner and then set up a teammate after drawing a second defender. Her craftiness and skill with a live dribble is at an elite level, calmly manipulating the defense with crossovers and head fakes to keep them off balance. She loves pushing the tempo on the fast break, constantly putting pressure on the defense and finding cutting teammates with crisp passes. Her awareness on the fast break allowed her to set up her teammates with picture perfect passes. She showed an ability to operate out of the pick and roll, or out of a five out type offensive set. Her versatility was on full display with CyFair Elite, calmly operating with the ball and keeping all of her teammates involved. Kimpson recently committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
#2 Gisella Maul Gisella Maul 5'10" | SG Cedar Park | 2023 State TX 2023 5’10 Cedar Park High School
Gisella’s story is absolutely incredible, leading her team to BACK TO BACK state championship’s and MVP’s, and then sadly tearing her ACL at an AAU tournament a few weeks later. Her recovery has been nothing short of jaw dropping, posting videos of her still working out on one leg, training to compete at the highest level. She committed to the University of Texas during all of the madness and it is not an understatement to say the Austin, Texas and Coach Schaefer are getting one of the best players in the country. Maul is a silky smooth scorer, who can get it done across all three levels but thrives at getting her own shot off in the mid-range, calmly pulling up or stepping back into space. Her aggressiveness, paired with her impressive frame and dynamic ball handling ability allows her to attack the rim at a very high level. Gisella might be one of the top scorers off the bounce, and I am sure that the University of Texas will get the most out of her, and allow her to shine on a massive stage! Do not forget this name!!!
#1 D’Asia Thomas D’Asia Thomas 6'3" | PF Houston Chrisitian | 2023 State TX 2023 6’3 Houston Christian
D’Asia is a complete prospect with an ability to stretch the floor, create off the dribble and dominate the interior. Her versatility is a tremendous asset, with a fluid handle and an ability to get her shot up off the bounce at a very high level. She can punish you with her back to the basket, like the natural big that she is, but her ability to allow her team to play five out and give her opportunities to dance around slower forward prospects is so enjoyable to watch! Her versatility and strength with her back to the basket is unmatched, and it allows her to bully her opponents up and down the court. She routinely destroyed her match-ups in the EYBL circuit this summer, playing with the powerhouse CyFair Elite, winning Nationals! Almost all of the top prospects in Houston have played for that team this year, so if you have not already, go check out that tape, it is JAW DROPPING, and Thomas is at the center of most of the highlights! It is no surprise that all of these ladies are going to such power house Universities, and Thomas will be no different, be sure to tune in for her commitment as well coming up!
