At the Southeast Showcase, there were several 2025 players who played well and elevated their status heading into the upcoming season. At the Select 50 Showcase, 2025 players were making plays all over the place. There have been other showcases that have reported some “good things” about a lot of these players. I also have seen a lot of these players around open gyms and many have been impressive. This article looks at 2025 players who continue to up their status and are destined to have a great Sophomore season.
Lamiyah Hogans Lamiyah Hogans 5'10" | CG San Jose Prep | 2025 State FL / 5’10 CG / San Jose Prep
Hogans is one of the hottest recruits out there right now as her stock just keeps rising. Hogans was a standout at the Southeast Showcase, where there were many talented players in the building. As I stated before if there was a player who is going to make a strong case as one of the best in the 2025 class it was going to be Hogan. Well, all eyes were on Hogan at the Southeast Showdown. At a recent workout in St Johns County, Hogan received her first offer from Flagler College. It’s sure to be one of many to come. Hogan has shown versatility with the ability to shoot the long ball, shoot it from midrange, and make some aggressive and impressive moves to the basket. Her offensive arsenal is on another level than most 2025s and she just continues to get better.
Trista Brown Trista Brown 5'6" | SG Oakleaf | 2025 State FL / 5’7 PG / Oakleaf
Brown has really stepped her game up and I’ve seen it firsthand a few times. She was a standout at a few Fall events and again t the Select 50 in Pensacola, FL. At the Select 50 Showcase, the Oakleak Sophomore really stood out. Her long-range shooting was impressive and her midrange pull-up was even better. Brown’s confidence was at the forefront and her play on the court matched the confidence. Out of 35 players, Brown was rated number 2 for the event. Brown’s outside shooting and ball handling were very impressive and looks like Oakleaf will have 2 quality point guards this upcoming season, Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL and Trista Brown Trista Brown 5'6" | SG Oakleaf | 2025 State FL .
Abby Price Abby Price 5'11" | SG Westminster Academy | 2025 State FL / 5’10 SG / Westminster Academy
Price has already made a name for herself in this very early stage of her career. Price is a versatile player, who can knock them down anywhere from behind the arc. She’s always knocking down multiple threes in games and it’s something that’s expected from Price. In the final weekend of fall ball, the sharpshooter Price knocked down 7 threes against South Broward. Looks like Price is already in mid-season form and is poised to have a Sophomore season to remember.
Jiyah Hamilton Jiyah Hamilton 5'2" | PG Forest | 2025 State FL / 5’2 CG / The Villages
No one works harder than Hamilton and her hard work is paying off. The first thing that stands out is Hamilton’s passion for the game and then everything else falls into place. Hamilton stands at 5’2 and has the “heart over height” factor about her. She can shoot the ball from the long-range and has really good instincts on the offense and defensive side of the ball. She was impressive at the PGH 250 Expo in Daytona and has stood out in some other showcase events as well. Hamilton is a name to keep a watch out for. She is a baller and this 2022 – 2023 campaign will be a special one for the combo guard.
Jolena Gardner Jolena Gardner 6'0" | SF Columbia | 2025 State FL / 6’0 PF / Columbia HS
Gardner is another special player in the 2025 class. She has a presence to her that is way beyond her years and this 2022-2023 season is going to be one to remember for this “budding” star. She has a good midrange game and she can get it done in the paint and around the basket area. She is versatile enough to play three to four positions on the court. Gardner is a very good rebounder on both ends of the court and her shot-blocking ability is “next level.” Gardner made some noise at some Showcases this month which comes as no surprise. Get the popcorn ready over in Columbia county and sit back and enjoy one of the best ballers in the 2025 class.
Terrannya Medlock Terrannya Medlock 6'0" | SG Ribault | 2025 State FL / 6’0 SG / Ribault
Medlock is a versatile player and she has shown signs of someone who is about to explode onto the basketball scene. The first thing you notice is her length and then when she lines up at the guard position, it is impressive. She has a nice shooting touch and can shoot from all levels on the court. She is also a very good defensive player and is relentless in the paint. She battles for every rebound and does so from the guard position and forward. She is also a very good shot blocker. She is going to be a matchup nightmare at Ribault this year, and she will be a player who can play three to four positions on the court. Medlock was impressive at the Southeast Showcase last month and has been equally impressive during fall workouts and open gyms.
